So, a little bit of backstory for this piece. It was a Christmas gift for a friend of mine who's a huge "Phantom of the Paradise" fan. For those of you not familiar with this 1974 cult classic retelling of the Phantom of the Opera, I'd highly recommend checking it out! It's delightfully bizarre. So, one day we stumbled across a sexy action figure that appeared to be a female version, not of the Phantom of the Opera, but of The Paradise! Needless to say, we were delighted. Apparently Yasushi Nirasawa was familiar with the movie as well, as he used it as inspiration in the Resurrection of Monstress action figure line that came out in the late 90's. Neither one of us had any idea that this figure even existed, and I knew a mash-up between the two was inevitable. I'll be honest- nothing says "Merry Christmas, you're awesome!" quite like bird boobs.
