“ Kaito , it’s been quite a while , yes? I . . . understand if you do not wish to speak to me . We have had a lot of distance from eachother. ” ( HERE HAVE THIS MESS OF SOMETHING FOR WHEN YOU RETURN FHSJFBSJFBD )
Not much has changed in those few years they’d been apart. Kaito’s grown a little, filled out just a tad-- just slightly more man-shaped now. But that’s about all.
But Anemone-- she’s never looked so beautiful.
And maybe that shows on his face amongst the million other things when he swivels around to stare slack-jawed down at her. Some sort of confusion, recognition, disbelief-- then shock as it sets in that, yes. This was her. This was the girl that left his life what felt like a decade ago. It was not a decade. It wasn’t even close. Just a couple years, that’s all. Just a few years apart, and yet... It felt like forever. It wasn’t a heartfelt goodbye, either. He didn’t really get to say much before she was pulled out and went somewhere new. Sure, they texted and all....He did get the full story... But eventually even their chatting quieted down, and their communication lessened into... next to nothing. And then nothing.
She was busy, after all. She’d done so much in so little time. He’d heard about a lot of it. Some of his friends told him he should let her go-- not to dwell so much on a girl that was literally countries away. But, as much as he held the facade that he, maybe had. He didn’t. Not for a second. He couldn’t bring himself to let her go.
It came as a surprise to him, to say the least. “What?” he murmurs dumbly. Then lets out a little ‘uh’, then a nervous laugh. “Well, y’know what they say...” he starts, trying to hide the wince and wobble of his lip, as he acts as if no time had passed at all between them at all. “Distance makes the heart grow fonder.” a laugh. Forced, yet somehow.. still genuine. Face adorned with one of his signature sharp-toothed grins. Just for her. He was happy to see her. So why did it feel as if his heart was breaking?
It’s not long before his grin wobbles a little, and his eyes threaten to well with tears, and his smile grows sad. Still, he tries to keep.. something up. Some semblance of.. composure, or something. Little as he had left of that. Amber hues meet hers again, and he bites the inside of his cheek, forcing a happier smile (he was overjoyed to see her, really-- he was) and he draws her close, rather suddenly embracing her closely in one of those all-encompassing Kaito hugs of his for a few moments... before letting her go. Not quite daring enough to linger. “What-- what’re doing here? Do you have a show? Are you just visiting, or..?” His smile fades (as does the little glimmer of hope in his eyes as he realizes--) and he briefly glances behind her. “Is there-- is there someone waiting for you, or--? I don’t wanna-- I don’t wanna like, keep you or anything--” a pause, “well, I mean, I do actually, but--” realizes how that sounds, then verbally stumbles, ears burning, “I mean-- I-- well--” he heaves a sigh of defeat as his words fail him once again. he accepts it, and awkwardly rubs the back of his neck. “... I just meant...” it takes a moment, but he swallows back the dry lump his throat. “I missed you.”
