Why I wished I finished Stranger things before the finale aired (not for the reasons you probably think)
I wish I had finished watching all of stranger things. I stopped after finishing season two episode one. as I got busy and ended up not watching the last seasons. Now I did enjoy stranger things from what I watched, I just really busy, and after that never picked it back up. I always intended to return to it though. However the reason why I wish I finished it and watched the final season as it aired has nothing to do with the show itself. And everything to do with the fandom.
The stranger things happening fandom created a conspiracy about a good final episode. They are not the only fandom to have done this. I so wished I could've understood the full extent of the delusion which fueled the theory about the secret good final episode fully. I wanted to be involved with the fandom. Not cause I'd believe it if I was involved in the stranger things fandom, as Netflix spent reportly $50 - $80 million dollars and that's not how TV production works. No I wanted to observe the theory unfold understand the context in real time.
The reason why I wanted is because I couldn't for Sherlock 2010. If you don't know Sherlock had a similar theory about a good final episode. And I watched a few videos on it because I was fascinated and I had watched the entire show but this was long after the John Locke conspiracies Hay Day so many of the Tumblr blogs and YouTube videos had been deleted.
I did look at content related to this to do with stranger things, but as I mentioned above I couldn't understand it due to the lack of context I had for the show. And since it's happened twice it might happen again, But it won't be for a while yet. For the record I wouldn't mock anyone I just wanted to see it unfold as it sounds like a very interesting fandom phenomenon, a very intoxicating environment to be a part of to believe such a thing, And well I wouldn't believe it - in part due to my knowledge about TV production from my fascination with it when I was like 12-13 years old and the johnlock conspiracy - would have been fascinating to watch unfold in real time with the full context. Ehhh I watch video essay on it when they created in a few mouths/years time. Because there will be video essays about this a popular show having a finale that bombed so astronomically that the member of its fandom tried to convince themselves there was a fake good finale coming out? That's the stuff video essays are made of. Proof? The Johnlock conspiracy had several made.
