I’m parked near the highschool, with a semi-unconscious person in the back of my car.
Long story short, I tried to find the Owl Woman’s swamp. I know it’s out back of our house somewhere. I thought that if I went in with the right “frame of mind”, I could maybe stumble upon it somehow.
I don’t know why I thought that would work. I found the big guy from outside the diner yesterday, instead, collapsed in the woods. I had to carry him out of there; he was really light. It’s like he’s almost all clothing. He was still hard to support though--he’s really tall, and he could barely walk straight, leaning all his weight into me, hanging on like he was scared he might blow away. I think he’s delirious, too. Kept muttering about a storm.
I didn’t know what else to do except get him into my car and drive off somewhere to give me time to think. I don’t think I should take him home. I could drop him off at the police station, but this town’s law enforcement won’t do anything, they’ll just either lock him up or turn him out onto the street again. I didn’t find any kind of identification on him. I don’t smell alcohol, so I’m going to guess that the exposure’s messed him up. I think he’s in a lot of pain. I wonder how long he was out there?
I haven’t dared to try uncovering his face, even though he’s breathing hard. Maybe. He’s making some kind of regular noise that doesn’t sound normal, but I can’t exactly see his chest moving. Should I check for a pulse? What am I going to do if he dies?
I need to try getting him to talk to me soon.
