27 concentrating on the movement of the other's chest from the recent ask :3
Also using @femslash-february light prompt: "Tell me again". Just some fluff with Oviine and Lucia. :3
Lucia Junius, exhausted from her day's work, locked her office door behind her, and headed outside. As was normal for Ishgard after the Calamity, a light snowfall was falling from the evening sky. The street lamps gave illumination to that which had been accumulating. Lucia pulled her scarf close around her and began heading home.
When she entered the house, she was immediately greeted by Binks, Oviine's black cat familiar. Binks rubbed his face over Lucia's shins, purring. "Demanding already?" Lucia teased. "I doubt Oviine was too busy for you, little one."
Lucia caught a whiff of potato soup, something Oviine loved to make. The stove was off, but the pot was covered, keeping some warmth in. Lucia lifted the lid to stir it. Not cold yet, she thought. I wonder if Oviine also made bread for it.
One of Oviine's hobbies was cooking, and had been since she was a child. Lucia considered herself lucky that she'd found a wife with such skill. Of course, Oviine was also incredibly intelligent and gifted with magicks, and absolutely beautiful to boot. Thinking about her always brought a smile to Lucia's face.
But, oddly, she hadn't stirred when Lucia came in.
Lucia first went upstairs, Binks at her heels. She stuck her head in their bedroom, but Oviine was not there. She was not in the bathroom either. And then, Lucia remembered...
Oviine's other favorite hobby was reading.
Lucia headed for the study and gently opened the door. And there was Oviine, her head on the desk, sound asleep. She'd fallen asleep reading a history of the Black Shroud and its Elementals. Her braids swirled around her neck and shoulders, moving with her chest as the Elezen woman snoozed.
Lucia quietly stepped over, her eyes watching Oviine's breathing. It was relaxing to her, seeing her wife so peaceful and content. Binks, for his part, hopped up on Oviine's back, curling into a little croissant.
Lucia sat down, wanting to watch but not wake her. Oviine had recently returned from a trip to help Sigrun out with an issue in Gyr Abania, and was likely still tired from traveling. What a beautiful view, Lucia thought.
Unfortunately, she felt a sneeze forming in her nose. No, dammit. She tried to sniffle it down, but unfortunately it wouldn't stay back, and--
The sneeze made both Oviine and Binks jump, the latter seeking shelter under a shelf. Oviine looked around before focusing on Lucia. "Oh, hello, love."
"Did you sleep well?"
"I did."
"Still keeping yourself busy. The soup looks good."
"You haven't eaten yet?" Oviine rubbed her eyes, getting that weird crust from their corners.
"I was waiting for you, love."
"You didn't have to."
"I wanted to, Oviine."
She shook her head, smiling. "How lucky I am to have such a patient wife."
"Tell me that again," Lucia teased.
"I'll do you one better." Oviine got up, drawing Lucia close to her. "How lucky I am to have the most wonderful woman as my wife."
Lucia leaned in for a soft kiss, each other's lips warm and welcoming. Oviine led her upstairs, talking about her day. And that was enough, for Lucia.
#8 Who taught them their combat style? Or are they self taught? Do they have a particular weapon or tool they favor most?
xiv oc asks
ty!! <3
Until recently Cori was primarily a summoner, which they mostly taught themself out of books. I think this shows in how they do the movements when they first come to Eorzea, a bit formal and with some quirks of having learned it themself. They later pick up red mage and learn to use the rapier from X’rhun but the biggest change to their combat style came from learning machinist, which they learned from Rostnsthal as well as training with Hilda and Joye. It made them a lot more fluid, athletic, and acrobatic in their movements which translated to their other jobs as well! and what little hand to hand combat she knows she learned from Estinien.
Cori can’t cast currently but she has a collection of grimoires that she works with, many she made herself, and that she takes notes in the margins of! (aka, i just pick the grimoire that goes with her outfit, bc she probably has it or has made it lol). She has a smaller collection of pistols but tends to stick to either the Warwolf Knifelock or the Law’s Order Revolver.
🎇 (sparkler) - If your oc had the chance to start their life over again, what would they change, if anything? How would this change them and the people around them? Would their lives be better or worse? Would they change anything in the first place?
I've been thinking about this for a few days now and I really think that Kitali already has. She's now living the life that she always assumed would be denied to her. She has a stable home (a physical place! to call home! wow!). She has a sprawling support network of people outside of just herself and her partners. She doesn't need to worry about where her next paycheck or meal will be. Like. This is the dream for her.
And having Aymeric in her life has done wonders. She's learned how to be loved, properly loved. She's figured out how to lower the barriers around her heart and to relax. She knows what contentment actually feels like, not just how it's described in books.
A secondary answer would be that she and Sadu have talked about the cycle of reincarnation within the Dotharl and how, sometimes, exceptions are made, and a new soul will join their ranks. And so Kitali has a sense of peace that when she dies, she could have the opportunity to be born onto the Azim Steppe again, and live the life she would have if her parents had never left it.
Thanks for the ask @bisquicklite this was a real headscratcher!
33. The feel of fingertips trailing over a bare shoulder blade
The last time Sigrun was in Radz-At-Han was...wait, was it almost a decade now? The realization hit her hard.
She sat down at the table to wait for G'raha. While her avatar kept her aether balanced, she still felt the aftereffects of being poisoned by Light. When Ardbert joined his soul to hers and freed her from the imbalance, it was like several ponze of iron had been lifted from her. She now had even more scarring thanks to that, and new body aches too.
She felt lightly calloused fingers on her shoulder. "Oh, Raha."
"So sorry to keep you waiting," the short red haired Miqo'te apologized. "Y'shtola and I were exchanging theories."
"'S fine, Raha." Sigrun had initially found him to be a bit annoying, way back when they first met. But G'raha had proved himself not only useful, but loyal, and utterly devoted to her.
She remembered how, for a split second, something flickered in his eyes when she told him that Yugiri was awaiting her return from the First. Sigrun did not pry though, and G'raha made no noise about it. When the Scions finally came home to the Source, G'raha enthusiastically greeted Yugiri after Sigrun introduced them, excited to meet "Lord Hien's faithful shinobi".
"Have you and Y'shtola thought of--?"
"Well, it appears some of our theories are correct. The soul does not survive transformation into a Blasphemy. Now, how come is another story..."
For his part, G'raha Tia was honored to be counted among the Warrior of Light's closest associates. He was glad that he helped her save the world, her friends, and herself from a premature end. And he considered himself quite lucky to get to know her as a person.
He knew he would never be as close to Sigrun as he once wished he could be. Those deep purple eyes, and that selfless, indomitable heart always got to him. But he could not break what she had with Yugiri, even if he wanted to. Besides, it would be foolish and cruel to ruin the one thing that always made his hero smile. And that was enough for him.
#5. "Tell me what to do and I'll do it." for the desperate quotes :3
(warning for implied/mentioned torture)
Z'aria had suffered through fitful sleep for--how much time had passed? The rough cloth over her mouth made it hard to breathe. Her mouth was as dry as the deserts back home.
A biting wind cut through her cell. She realized she was not home.
Wonderin' if I'd end up here. The weather was enough to identify Garlemald. She must have been flown in on airship.
One of the guards noticed she'd perked up. "Finally. Are you ready to meow, kitty cat?"
"Felids are also capable of hissing, spitting, scratching--"
The soldier raised a hand to strike her, but stopped. "Lucky for you, my boss thinks you're too valuable to hurt--majorly. But you need to comply."
Z'aria thought of home. Gyr Abania. Her friend's daughter, now her own. Z'aza. "Tell me what to do, and I'll do it."
"Really, you'd betray your homeland so easily? Your kind really are pathetic, weak--and in need of control."
"I'll be your prisoner. Torture me, interrogate me. I'll comply. But I won't give you what you want."
12. Never blow your paycheck completely if you can help it. Always keep a couple hundred dollars(or whatever is comfortable in your native currency). 1) this will keep the risk of overdraft at bay. 2) in case of emergency for yourself or a pet or whatever, you at least have SOMETHING to put down.
Don't be afraid to ask for help, period.
Focus on getting at least one easy goal completed a day. This more applies to me on a day off, because my work is pretty routine.
If you want to try out new makeup, skin care or body care, try the new product while you still have some of the old product left. That way, if you have a reaction to the new product, you still have some of your old product left.
40. What was the best advice on love and relationships that they ever received? Who provided this?
The best relationship advice she ever got was actually some business advice, which was "don't give all you got right up front", which was really useful with regards to her current relationship. This was when she was still relatively new to being on her own, and was probably some other random mercenary she had gotten to chatting with somewhere.
And then she goes and makes her and Aymeric matching rings after dating for like six months
When she was around 6 or 7, there was a meteor shower over Doma that everyone in the village they were staying in went to go and watch. That night Kitali woke up crying because she was having a nightmare about streets on fire and people screaming and a strange woman speaking to her.
