Hello. Sorry for the biphobia spam, I had just gotten some anon filling up my inbox with biphobic/genderfluidphobic/panphobic rants about my Coming Out series and I needed to feel validated.

This is gonna sound weird but I legit believe that Todd from Scrubs was an amazing bisexual representation, especially for the time. The episode where he came to terms with it was phenomenal in the fact that it SEEMS like its going down the path of “oh he’s just like that because he’s a closeted homosexual” trope but then it turns out that him being open about his attraction to guys doesn’t change who he is as a person, nor does that mean he ISN’T still attracted to women. Sure, he’s not the best character for representation and someone who is a walking sexual harassment lawsuit should not be idolized but I still think the handling of his coming out was neat, especially for the time the show aired when the word “gay” was still casually being used as an insult

It’s okay, I was just wondering because I admire your writing and you’re right. I just don’t want people to keep the stigma of “bisexuals/pansexuals are confused” if I end up switching my label. Honestly I just want to use the umbrella term “queer” but people have a problem with that even though I feel that best fits me. I just don’t want to offend anyone.

you know what? fuck it if you're "offending" people! this is your identity. if you feel that 'queer' is what fits you best, of course you should be able to identify as queer! excuse me but if that offends anyone, they should just mind their own fucking business or just fuck off! they don't get to dictate how you should identify yourself! and if they try then 1) either send them to me and i'll scold them like they've never been scolded before, or 2) don't be around them if you can help it! that is a clear sign that they are not a pleasant person to have around, even when talking about other stuff than lgbt+.

I just read the comments on a couple of posts and it hurt seeing that people really see transphobia and biphobia when I say I’m pansexual. (2/2)

i respect that. i don't really care about gender identity when i'm interested in someone, the reason i identify as bisexual is because the way i get interested in someone varies with the genders, that just doesn't mean i can't get interested in other genders besides male and female.

you know, it's not my place to tell you what to identify as, but you can always say that you changed your sexuality if you don't agree with it (idk, maybe i interpreted your ask wrong?). nothing is set in stone and definitely not your identity. the stigma for bi (and pan) people are exactly why i go and reblog posts like that, i never meant for anyone to be thrown under the bus, so i apologise if i made it feel that way.

don't let people get to you, okay? if you don't discriminate against bisexuals and transgenders, then it doesn't concern you. we all just need to love a little more and it hurts when it's people in your own "community" that makes you feel unwelcome. i certainly don't view you in a negative way!

Thanks, I was just wondering because I label myself as pansexual because I don’t care about gender identity, just a connection- not saying bisexuals don’t. I was just misinformed on what bisexuality was when I found the pan label and it’s something I’ve stuck with because I’m so used to it. I just hate the stigma that people have against pansexuals and bisexuals and now it feels like we’re being pit against each other. (1/2)
