#feel a bit bad#felt a bit pretentious last night cuz#while drunk#i corrected someone on what decade of fashion is in the new nosferatu movie#they sounded like they were saying it was 1890s due to the puff sleeves#and i was like ‘i’m pretty sure it was earlier cuz of the sleeves starting lower on the sloping shoulders’#and we looked it up#and apparently it was set in 1838#so i was a little bit right but i had not known that exact decade#i am not familiar enough with the nuances of early victorian era fashion#i realize i’m accidentally kind of bragging rn#but also venting a little? cuz i felt like i accidentally alienated myself from a fellow fashion history fan#and i am like what was the best thing to do in this situation?#let the convo go smoothly while we nerd together and not correct them?#idk#cuz there have been times other people corrected the gaps in my knowledge and i felt both happy about it AND a but embarrassed#bit *#i don’t mind when my bosses correct me#and my costume peers if they’re nice about it#it’s a matter of working on insecurity about whether i know enough#and i do not want to make other people feel that same insecurity#hopefully this person did not#fashion history#career#theater design#costume design#nosferatu 2024#rambling
