If any of you are thinking of doing freelance, or have already delved into the world of freelance Design. Click the link above for a good little article that is helpful as a starting point on making sure you steer clear of deadbeat clients. The actual world of making sure you get paid can sometimes be more complex than this article, but it's important to know everything that is listed here. Especially for you guys - the bit about making sure you're asking for a reasonable rate. I know that as new/young designers it can seem like a good idea to do a job for a crazy low rate, but really you're just hurting yourself (by not getting paid what you and your talent deserves), AND you're also hurting the rest of the industry by offering cheap-o clients a chance at getting the same pro-quality of work for a way cheaper price. And in the end that just devalues the whole market. So don't go all self-depreciating on things - get paid what you deserve! In other news, if you haven't already - check out the amazing blog Clients from Hell - it's hilarious in a painful truths kind of way.
