Headcanon that Della's name isn't legally Della. It's Adella but she thinks it doesn't sound as good so she goes by Della.

And also one of the older relatives keeps calling her Adella or Addie or smth like that and it confuses all the kids(and some of the adults if any who hasn't seen them interact before is there)
