Laganum's hair is finally here! It needs to trimmed/styled but it's a really nice color! And soft. I just wish they had told me about the seam. It looks like a brain stem and it doesn't feel nice. Ah well. Once he has a body it'll be hidden
please excuse Rin’s lack of pants lol. They’re being taken in.
Anywho. Tail progress here. It’s proving to be really super obnoxious. I just can’t get the tuft size right! First it was too small then it was humongous! This is attempt 3. Still too big! I’m wasting felt here. Ugh but it’s hard to get that damn curl right when it’s small. I think I’m almost there tho.. i did also try brushed yarn, but i didn’t like how it looked :/ might try again tho with thicker yarn. But even with wax i won’t get the cute little stylized curl, which is why i moved on to felt. Maybe if i curl it out a little more it’ll be easier to cut
also contemplating putting fur fabric but I’m afraid it’ll get too heavy. Maybe I’ll forego the felt and just use fur fabric?? I don’t know! Thoughts?
I removed Vile’s ears and gave Mimi’s seams a light dremeling today. With dremeling and a finishing wet sand, her seams are less noticeable but I don’t think they will ever actually be fully invisible. There seems to be a slight discoloration in the porcelain where her seams were, and I don’t want to go too deep :(
Well, it looks like Tripp will be the first resin reassembled. I've had problems with the mod podge on X's knee. I've been sanding down the mod podge on her to make it super smooth for the top gloss coat and it lifted up on the knee joint. I suspect it's not cured enough, maybe due to the humidity? I moved it out of the sewing room, to the living room, where the fireplace is so hopefully that'll help. I'm going to wait to do more sanding so I don't damage anything else. Also, I cut open her helmet and it seems to be rather small. I'm going to try to hollow it out more if I can.
I've done so many thin coats of silver for X's base layer of paint and it's still not quite enough. Makes me so glad I'm not doing this with the others! I'm trying to do thin coats to minimize brushstrokes but it is taking sooooo long and I still have to do the blue afterwards! Her helmet and buster are still being worked on but the buster is only a bit more sanding (and hole drilling) away from being painted. The helmet needs to be cut, the ears finished and attached, seams carved in, and I need to put magnets in the centre and ears to hold it together, then I can prime, sand and paint it.
Did the line work on X. Not sure if I like it, dislike, it or just need to step away from it for a bit and see. Minimal is so much harder to me...
For the first time in months, there was less than 70% humidity! I got all X's base coats done, did the pastels for her faceup, and blushed her central torso piece and hands. Too bad I worked till 4:30 and had to get groceries or her faceup might even be done! If only it would line up on a day off, I might be able to work on Tripp too, though I'm thinking I might restring her and make some slopers before I start all the madness that will be blushing and painting her.
