Today I'm showing you how I pack a BJD head with faceup~

Since I had to send my client's doll heads back after I completed their faceups, I thought I'll record a tutorial on how I pack doll heads to avoid faceup rubbing and damage during shipment. If you ever need to send a head with a faceup out, I hope this tutorial and my tips/know-hows are helpful in keeping your doll's faceup safe~

Graaah! So frustrated, I ended up ordering a doll from S/L on Ali and it’s taking FOREVER to get here. When I ordered privately, the doll was here in a week. 😭😭

Hello Anon, legit bjd waiting times are from 2 to 3 months (up to 9 or even 13 months in some cases). You can make a real human being in less time. So even if for you it’s taking forever, do find some comfort knowing it’s still a very fast time. Surely a week it’s always better, but up to 20 days or a month is still significantly fast (in doll making terms).

If the shipping costs end up being higher than what the buyer pays for when I sell something I always hide the total on the receipt when I send them a pic of the receipt with the tracking number... I don't want them to feel bad that I ended up paying more than I expected. I just want them to be happy that they're getting the doll or item they paid for.

Of course it's up to the buyer whether or not they want to pay high international shipping. But honestly I've never had a single international buyer NOT back out when they learn the price. Depending on communication skills, it sometimes takes me an hour or more to get shipping info, get a quote, write out all their options, and wait to hear my time was wasted. I apologize if it's inconvenient, but I'm so busy I just can't deal with it anymore. So I just don't ship internationally. :(

I recently bought a doll from someone off Facebook who is from a different country than myself. However, the tracking number I had for the doll isn't working anymore and the original postal service site doesn't have the number in it either. It's been a few days now and I still can't track my package. Should I ask the seller about it or just try and be patient? This isn't my first time buying from someone in a different country, but it is the first time my number hasn't worked.

Sellers in the US often don't ship internationally because we have NO WAY of estimating the cost of international shipping without having the package already packed and weighed, having the exact address it's going to, and taking it in person to the post office. We can't calculate price ahead of time except on a case by case basis where we already have your info. Most of us have had to pay 2-3 times what we sold something for out of pocket with no warning just to ship it. It's not personal.

"It's Canada, it doesn't cost that much to ship things here if you're in the US" Nah actually it can. For a quick mock up of prices, if you want to send a doll head (assuming the parameters are under 12" in any direction and the package weighs 8 oz), it COULD cost about $10... assuming you don't want tracking or insurance. Otherwise shipping can easily skyrocket to $45 or so if you're using USPS and go with priority shipping. US international shipping rates are awful. And that's for a head.

To any US sellers, look into scheduling a pickup at home if you can't make it to the post office. Ask them to scan it when it gets picked up (you should get a receipt), so if anything happens to it you have proof that USPS is responsible. As long as your package is Priority you shouldn't have any trouble and it saves you the time and effort of going to the post! And remember to insure any dolls you're sending out :D
