Dear Fellow Black Tapes Fans,

Some things never really leave you.

I drive 2-3 hours every day, so I go through a lot of audio media. I started listening to a new book one night, and as I'm driving home though the late fall darkness I hear:

Apophenia

My eye twitches.

Apophenic

Twitch.

And then a few minutes later

Apophenia

To which I yell:

Shut up, Richard!

In my empty car.

*sigh*

The old Black Tapes scars are never really gone, I suppose.

But if you want a book that will let you imagine a better ending than the one we got, one where Alex and Strand live a happy life gently debunking the hell out of things while holding up a mirror in which humanity can examine their own bullshit, boy oh boy do I have a recommendation for you!

Podcast Recs Requested!

So I’ve really gotten into story-telling podcasts (with characters and plots like a radio version of a TV Show) and I wanted to ask the void for recommendations! As someone with ADHD, having something to listen to while I complete boring tasks is really helpful and I’d like to have more options. I really love The Magnus Archives and I’m into horror, suspense, comedy, romance, history, LGBTQIA+ representation, and well written women characters.

I started Uncanny County, and Welcome to Night Vale is on my list, and I tried listening to Wolf 359 and The Black Tapes but I didn’t like the characters enough to stick past the first few episodes (my short attention span back at it again).

Ughhhh audio dramas have the sexiest premises like yes gimme that mysterious signal coming from improbable places, gimme haunted mountain towns, gimme skeptics teaming up with believers to debunk ghost stories, gimme medical space stations, gimme depressed alcoholic detectives solving cases on the Martian plains, gimme missing colleagues who've only left behind cryptic notes, gimme xenobiologists stranded on alien planets, gimme mysteriously disappearing towns and journalists hunting for the truth, gimme warped realities and horror that sinks into your very skin, gimme mutants in therapy, gimme cybertronic English monarchs and failing funeral homes
