For the writer’s ask game: 💖 and 🧠 (Arnaghad. I love the Bears so much and I want to claw his big stupid skull open)
💖 What made you start writing? oh! I answered that one here . <3
🧠 Pick a character, and I'll tell you my favorite headcanon for them. Arnaghad! My beloved. He was introduced to me by the inimitable @hungarianbee, of whom i owe many headcanons. I vary on his height, depending on the fic, but he's big. Very, very big. Usually paired with Erland, I like the devastation of such a strong connection between them, and knowing the schism of the Order driving them apart. Was it him? Could they have fixed it? Who knows. I like to write him as a quiet man, who talks little not for any lack of intelligence but vocal chord damage. His words chosen are deliberate. He is a freelancer, who scorns what we would consider a union, he is proud, and impatient. Like all witchers, quite traumatized, especially so because so few survived those first trials. It's fun to consider he (and a few others) are far more mutated/less human than current witchers. Arnie has some sharper teeth, shorter temper, and frankly, the cause of many of those "inhuman" rumors that don't really seem to follow current witchers. Geralt, in books and games, has little issue blending in, befriending, and romancing humanity around him. So where did the rumors come from? The early days, I figure. I also like to figure that he (and Erland!) have a stronger connection to magic, though possibly more unstable. I think Arnaghad would have chronic pain, from the excessive growth- a big teen who would've been a big man, but put through those mutagens which just enhanced- with little care to repercussions. He is big- but not slow. His muscles are not for show, but for use. He's built like a brick shithouse and you'd think he was slow, or lazy, or maybe even dumb, but you would be dead far before you realized how wrong you are. I don't think he has patience for diplomacy or discussion, when he can just chop off your damn head and be on his way. If you were stupid enough to threaten him, why should he trust you be smart enough to know to run when you realized your error? That said? Regardless of any AU I noodle him in, he always loved Erland. And probably always will. Even if he also wants to rip the little bird's head off sometimes.
