The disjointed narration and general all over the place-ness prevented me from actually getting attached to the story of the characters. I felt like Dorcas’ murder was sort of random and I failed to understand why all the musings about Violet didn’t really culminate in anything tangible. I don’t know- I’m sure this book is loved by many, but I just couldn’t connect with it. Maybe I should revisit it at a later time. I will say I did like learning Joe’s backstory.
