Today In History Zadie Smith is an amazing author, essayist, and short-story writer, who was born on this date October 25, 1975, in London, England. Smith is the author of the novels White Teeth, The Autograph Man, On Beauty, NW and Swing Time, as well as a novella, The Embassy of Cambodia, and two collections of essays, Changing My Mind and Feel Free. She is also the editor of The Book of Other People. Zadie was elected a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in 2002, and was listed as one of Granta's 20 Best Young British Novelists in 2003 and again in 2013. Known for her eccentric characters, savvy humour, and snappy dialogue which tackle the treatment of race, religion, and cultural identity, Zadie Smith became a sensation in the literary world. Oscars after-party?) that’s her husband Nick Laird to her left but it doesn’t really matter who anyone is ... that’s Zadie f’ing Smith in the middle and don’t you *ever* forget it!

august 21st 2019 — done studying for the afternoon. i think i’ll pick up my notes later tonight and reread everything i’ve studied thus far. so now i’m gonna read on beauty, i’d like to reach page 100 and the tale of two cities and i’d like to reach page 150. i’m not sure it’s doable but i’ll try 😃
