I knew I had to Goid Intentions by Kasim Ali when I read the cover: “Nur and Yasmina are in love They’ve been together for four happy years But Nur’s parents don’t know that Yasmina exists.” What a good read! A different kind of HEA where the main characters, Black & Brown (a distinction that is too important in this story) and colorism play a huge role. Racism. Police brutality. Prejudice. Fights 3 times a week. Suicidal thoughts. Not feeling like being black was SAFE. These are things I dealt with my freshman and sophomore years of high school... 9 years ago.  Worst part was I kept it all inside, but still NEEDED ways to cope. In comes these characters.  My project, #BlackCharactersMatter is a tribute to all the iconic black characters in anime, video games and comic books that affected not just me, but SO many people in the world. I hope you can feel the happiness these characters brought me, and if you were touched by them as well, go on a feels trip and feel a little happiness yourself.
