It's not good enough that we attempt to educate our friends, colleagues, and family members about social justice within the black community. We must also educate ourselves. There is so much that we weren't taught in school or by family members that we must dig a little deeper to educate ourselves. For example, I just finished reading What To The Slave Is The Fourth Of July? It's the speech, Frederick Douglas gave on July 5, 1852. The next book I'm reading is Fearing The Black Body. The Racial Origins of Fat Phobia. I'm also watching I Am Not Your Negro derived from James Baldwin's book which he never finished writing. What steps are you taking to educate yourself? #somethingsabouther #stahfamily #blackeducatorsmatter #unapologeticconversation #blackeducators #blackeducation #wemusteducateourselves #jamesbaldwin #fatphobia #avidreader #ourhistory (at Phoenix, Arizona) https://www.instagram.com/p/CBGhZB6nTDk/?igshid=6rk02ua8pu53
