2023 in Review & Look Ahead
It's been 8 years since I last wrote, and while the initial writing frenzy has died down, I'm satisfied with what I've managed to put out last year. All things considered, having only started in the second half of 2023, I'm very happy with the 4 fics I wrote. I mean, who wouldn't be damn proud that all 4 fics were from their years-old WIP pile?
Some quick AO3 stats for 2023:
If I had to choose a favourite from what I wrote in 2023, it would be Crux. Not only is it one of the longest oneshots I've ever written, it also surprised me. It took on a life of its own, Astoria became more than just Draco's wife in canon, and the ending, although sad, felt right. It's also a bit of a love letter to the Dramione fandom as my gut tells me it's time to retire writing for this particular pairing.
It has truly been an amazing stretch of years being in the Dramione fandom. I've had the opportunity to participate in challenges and had the honour of writing several times for the DHR Advent. But while I may no longer write Dramione, I'll still be around reading the absolutely stellar fics this fandom produces.

So what's in store for 2024?
Unless life throws me an absolute curveball, I plan to write more :)
I have an HP fic that I think has about two chapters left. It's been an exercise in restraint as I am writing the whole fic before posting it. I've also partnered with a beta, and I tell ya, what a difference it is to have a second set of eyes on your writing. My beta J is phenomenal.
I've also been on a D.Gray-man reading kick for the last month. Yes, I know I'm about a decade late, but I'm still going to write what's been building in the back of my mind. Leenalee is going to be my DGM fandom bike, and I won't apologize for it.
I'm also eyeing the JJK fandom, but we'll see.
And, of course, I'll be working on my enormous Naruto WIP pile. This fandom will always be my home, and despite the many years, KakaSaku still has a chokehold on me like no other pairing. But having said that, I've got a Genma/Anko idea that is becoming quite insistent that I start writing it. Seeing as this is a rare pair, that one will purely be a self-indulgent fic.
