#Repost @theantoinettethomas ・・・ With this, I hope everyone can at least acknowledge that language is ever changing. Yes, “colored” was once a common term for Black people in the US and yes, African American has been considered to be the most polite thing to say at the time. It is now 2020 and every document that requires a racial identifier now uses Black (for the most part) to encompass all kinds of Black people from the diaspora: African Americans in the US, Caribbean and folks from the Americas, people from countries in Africa, etc. . . . You can try to fight somebody in the comments to tell them that there should be no racial labels, but you saying so is not radical, but a delusion. This world rotates on an “identifier” basis, and race is a huge part in that. Learn it’s different facets in order to help the people you claim you want to stand for so goddamn bad. . . . . . . . . . #blackart #amplifymelanatedvoices #activismviaart #blackillustratorsmatter #blackwomenwhopaint #blackartists #illustrationartists #illustrationoftheday #illustratorsoninstagram #blackfemaleillustrator #illustrationart #dailydrawing #dopeblackart #blackactivism #blm #supportblackart #blackwomendraw #blackartistspace https://www.instagram.com/p/CB2ayjLAztN/?igshid=77wz20dpge0z
