Strict Face - Rain Cuts EP [Blacklink Sound - BLACK004]
Official video biz for Blacklink Sound. Reckon DMX would rate Tarquin; got that level of derangement but still sweet as hell. Blacklink going 4 for 4 on the release front.
FEAT. Aaliyah; surgical animations; CG mecha screen test footage; Duox; The Boxer's Omen; the Additivist Manifesto; Street Trash, and the ending of Jaws 3D. Usual stuff rly.

[MIX SERIES]: LVLSRVRYHI-018: Invader Spade
Intros first: for anyone who doesn't know - who are you? / where are you from? Name’s Invader Spade and I currently reside in the slums of Milton Keynes. What music did you grow up listening to? Growing up i was quite lucky because my mum, her friends and fam had a good music taste a lot of hip hop, r&b, soul things of that nature. I used to listen to loads of Eminem and Fat Boy Slim when I moved to the UK and Gorrilaz; I like a lot of music.
How did you first experience Grime and what lead you to start producing your own stuff? My mates older brother used to have all the shit on his ngage so in school and after school we would just bang that out (looool out to the ngage massive). One of the first tunes I proper remember listening to and knowing all the words to when I was young was Griminal going in on Jammer. Then in school like year 10 my mate just gave me a disc with fl studio on it so figured out to work it after a load of trail and error and went from there really. Son Raw singled you out when he did a write-up on the Blacklink Sound compilation for Passion of the Weiss, saying your, "tracks are about to make a LOT of noise in 2015" and that "if you haven’t heard them yet, you will soon" - how has 2015 been for you so far? You just self-released an EP on Bandcamp... Yer it’s been really good, shout out Son Raw, and Slackk actually cos he was like the first person to play my tunes. But yer got a few songs out on compilations, id been waiting to drop an Ep for a hot sec and was happy with the tunes i had so went for it had a good response as well. Looking to do a bonus round then move on to level two, gonna try make that happen this year. Had some really good unexpected support from quite a few people so yer real happy, just wanna keep pushing and doing my thing. got alot of tracks in the making trying out some different stuff. Shout out everyone supporting means a lot!! Your tracks definitely manage to capture those aspects that made tracks by people like Ironsoul, Blackjack, and Davinche really fun and exciting - where the seemingly endless number of producers about at the moment making 8 or 16 bar refixes and sample-heavy Grime tracks end up with pretty boring results. Are there a lot of older producers you're looking to or have you just been blessed with a knack for this sort of thing? The chops I work with are from songs that i listen to a lot so i put a lot of thought into them and listen to them loads finding the bits i like, don’t wanna say I’m blessed i just really enjoy making music so try do everything organically like not force anything, and i was lucky enough to live with someone who was like minded and i like to think that brought the best out of me. Just tryna do some more soulful sounding stuff as opposed to just an r&b flip. Even though it's now pretty easy to see instrumental grime as its own thing - as properly apart of dance music and club culture right now - the thing I always remember is everyone getting gassed, spewing their favourite bars on the bus whilst the tiniest 8 bar blared out of their phones. Are you planning on working with vocalists at all? 100% thats really what im trying to do now, its like the next step for me i really wanna work with some mcs it just ads a next energy. Theres so many sick guys out there atm. I never really make tracks with an mc in mind format wise but defo gonna start doing that cos i wanna get involved so mcs make sure you hola! Might even drop one two bars will have to see what happens. You were on the Iron Deck Tournament that Grime Disciple organized for Radar - and you can obviously mix, but do you DJ out very much? Atm not that much, i dj like every other month at my mates night (Far East Sound) in depford. I like things to just happen naturally so will see if anything changes in that respect but defo wanna start playing out more there’s no better feeling for me. Any dubs you've been reaching for lately - or one you've been trying to grab? Yer Lemzly Dale just sent me a few new bits which are ridiculous, I rate him sooo highly, definitely one of the best producers around atm shout out Lemz. I heard Jack Dat drop a DSL dub on Radar a week or so back that I really wanna get though mobbin, so so tough. If you had to pick something for people to listen to immediately after this mix what would it be? Go listen to my EP on bandcamp show some love!!
