As I kneeled yesterday in silence with the people of Gunnison, Colorado in solidarity with our BIPOC community I felt generations of privilege in my own bloodline stop and listen with me. The only change that can happen now begins with each of us. And to realize that I have not educated myself appropriately because I wasn’t shaken enough is humbling and embarrassing. I am not afraid to be wrong and admit my unconscious entitlement as I dream of a world where we all celebrate each other’s uniqueness... There is so much reading and listening to be done, it is all available to us we just have to make the choice to do it. I feel shame in my naivety as I live often to far in the future, though this is a wake-up call to demand reparations are made and to do my part as an ally to be an active anti-racist if there is any hope for a future that I imagine to be real. 💫 . I will be releasing some new prints to aid in supporting various causes that are on the front lines, and continuing to listen, learn and facilitate more conversation as we go deeper into the trauma and pain that so many carry because of systematic oppression. .
