Made a new tool test / table for my belt sander. It is 3/8” thick x 8”x12” and is attached to a removable 1 1/4” solid square bar. With a large table I can profile large blades and use knife grinding jigs. Next on the list is new pillow blocks.
File knife with osage orange handle with brass pins. The stamp on the file says Keen Kutter, I checked the trademark, it was used between 1905-1940
Got this handle all polished and 1 coat of oil on it.
Made good progress on these blades today. The left one is damascus which is wrapped up while putting the handle on to prevent scratches. The right one is made from a very old German file, and the hamon is really popping now with 400 grit hand sanding. I’m making that for myself for a change!
