Toni and Guy Photographic Awards...reciprocal?
So I'm officially starting this blog off with a question. Toni & Guy stylist and MUAs are known as very creative, and artistic work that if always remarkable. I've recently been contacted by a friend of a friend who is assembling a team of creatives to bring their creative hair styling and make up skills to life using my fashion photography.
I absolutely love working with other creatives on concepts. So when the opportunity came along I leaped at the chance to build my network, and to have my work seen in a national competition by a industry leader like T&G! But after a few hours perusing images on their web page I find it off putting to see that only a single photographer has been given credit for the images displayed as winning photos for the styling and make up.
I'm still as excited as ever for this shoot, but would be a bit more excited to see photographers given more than just bragging rights for being a big part of creating amazing aesthetics for audience members to ogle at an awards show they cannot attend.
But maybe I'm missing something. Maybe the photographers who won had Vogue, Elle, W, and a swarm of other dream jobs knocking down their door after the images went public. Maybe the images being announced as winners opened new doors for them that had been previously elusive.
I don't know, but I'm gonna work my ass off to find out! I'm working on faith, fueled by a fiery passion for the love of my craft, but running on fumes... I need money DAMNIT! ;)
