THE PRICE OF A RAINBOW - is a New Orleans Brass band-inspired, musical investigation composed by trumpeters Marcell Bellinger and Paul Giess that explores the ongoing impact of Hurricane Katrina and the intense human and financial costs of global warming. The performance was presented by the Marcell Bellinger Brass Quartet, featuring Marcell Bellinger - Trumpet, percussion master Alan Nelson - Drums, Bill Saurman - Trombone and Sam Turley - Tuba, this performance excavates untold stories hidden within the motions of American waters. These events are curated by Homer Jackson of Phila Jazz Project & Chef Valerie Erwin of Geechee Girl Rice Cafe. Refreshments for our final event September 24th will be provided by Chef Melissa Fernando of Sri's Company with related book selections will be available for sale courtesy of Books & Stuff. TROUBLE THE WATER is a Jazz-based music, movement and spoken word performance literally diving into the social, political, personal and spiritual implications of gospel classics, "Wade in the Water" and "Deep River." This piece is created and performed by the Philadelphia Jazz Tap Ensemble and features vocussionist, Bethlehem - who "uses her whole body to make music" and tap dancer & choreographer Pamela Hetherington.
