Destiny: Arc Blade OP?
A lot of Destiny PVP noobs tend to complain about the Hunter supers; Golden Gun in the Gunslinger sub-class and Arc Blade in Bladedancer.
Yeah having GG out is like having three free kills, but I also have to aim all three shots. Like I actually have to have you in my reticle to kill you. So for any over decent player, GG is three free kills. Also, GG is not at all snappy. Gunslingers get no shield during the animation when super is activated. Which means that it's rarely ever used as a last ditch effort to score a bitch kill. You need see a situation and anticipate how it'll play out once you activate it. Target can't be too far cause aiming'll be a little more difficult (only three shots doooooooe) and the target can't be too close 'cause then you'll just get bodied by a melee or a shotgun, even a fusion rifle will indeed rape you up close.
Arc Blade is what we're here to talk about though. And we're really only gonna touch on the Arc Blade (RB/R1 during Arc Blade) just to save time and characters.
So Arc Blade is great, like totes magotes fucking awesome. While GG is for getting a streak going or shutting down other supers (I'm looking at you Warlocks and Bladedancers), AB is for zone control. If Nova Bomb and Fist of Havoc could be compared to rocket launchers, then AB is the machine gun of supers. It's not really that difficult to mow down enemies in a confined space (and that 50% damage reduction does sweeten the deal) but it's definitely not a cheap move either. Just like GG, AB has an animation that has to be endured after activating super which means that it's rarely a last ditch or a sprint by fuck you to the enemy team. It takes a moment's preparation to figure out how you wanna use to 10-15 seconds [I presume] you get for AB.
You almost never see a hunter walk into a room with three guys, activate AB (or GG for that matter), kill them all and then waltz out. Doesn't happen. Voidwalkers and Strikers will complain all the time that it's not fair that hunters get to run around with both supers active and get pick enemies off at their leisure.
To that I say fick dick und essen scheiße (I'm learning German, sexy right?). Every other Guardian sub class (minus Sunsinger) gets to walk around with their super until they need to whip it out last second. Mind you two of those are splash damage with 1hk and one is a total defense bubble AND both the 1hk get shields during the animations (which gives time to aim during super activation).
Countering AB is key during the animation if you're really gonna stop it. Take it from me, I'm mainly a Gunslinger. But how're you gonna know when someone is gonna use AB? Simple, listen. I mean it. Listen. AB (GG too for that matter) both make distinctive sounds during their activation. A super is to quickest way to deal with a Bladedancer in AB but grenades, shotguns or some distance with high impact are your best friends. Heavy ammo the shit out of them if you have to.
So Guardians, get out there and get some skill. And quit your bitchin' while you're at it. Auf Wiedersehen!
Bladedancers -Episode 1 (By Rstuff Braso)
I really enjoyed watching this series created by Rstuff Braso - I had to watch the English subtitles as my German is non-existent but I was really drawn into the story. I have no idea why I never came across these videos before but I wanted to signal boost. :)
