Summary: Blaine is having a hard time forgiving himself for what happened between him and Kurt. Sam, being the bestest friend in the whole wide world, swoops in to help.
(AO3 link!)
Blaine stared at his phone for ten full minutes before he finally picked it up. It took him another five before he actually hit the ‘dial’ button.
“Hey man, what’s up?” Sam greeted, picking up Blaine’s call immediately.
“Oh, nothing much. W-What are you up to?” Blaine had no idea why he was so nervous, Sam had become his best friend over the last couple of weeks, but Blaine can feel his hands start to shake.
“Eh, I’m just watching some YouTube videos. The house is empty because everyone is visiting Carole’s sister in Toledo for the weekend, so I’m just watching a bunch of Elder Scrolls lore right now. What’s new with you? Or did I ask that already?” Blaine could almost picture Sam looking up at the ceiling as he tries to remember if he already asked what Blaine was up to, and he can’t help but smile.
“I’m kind of in the same boat, so I was wondering if you wanted to…I dunno, hang out or something. Unless Tamriel is really calling to you at the moment.”
“Nah, it’s cool. Do you want me to bring over some movies or something? Or we can always go bowling, I know Lima Lanes is open until midnight.” Sam suggested.
Blaine’s heart rises up to his throat. “Yeah, that sounds good! I do enjoy some bumper bowling…”
“I know dude. The one time you beat Santana, Tina and Finn, all you wanted to do was go bowling for weeks after. Do you want to just meet there or…?” Sam teased.
“I’ll just meet you there, if that’s cool. I’ll head out now!” Blaine said, immediately looking for a pair of socks.
“You’ll probably beat me there, so just get us all set up alright? See you in ten.”
______________
“Hey, I don’t want to bring the mood down, but um…can I ask you something?” Blaine asked, eating another french fry.
“Yes, we can play another round after you eat. I’m not doing much else tonight.” Sam agreed with a shrug, staring at Blaine’s plate.
“No, not about that. I mean, I’m glad you still wanna play, even after I just beat you. But my question is about Quinn, actually. You guys dated, right?” Blaine tried to broach the subject slowly, because he’s only heard bits and pieces of what happened, and he doesn’t want to upset Sam at all.
It only sort of works, because Sam visibly tensed before taking a deep breath in. “Yeah, we dated when I first came to Lima. What about her?”
“She…she cheated on you with Finn, yeah?” Blaine had a hard time making eye contact with his best friend, and he felt slightly nauseous at the influx of emotions (and shitty bowling alley potatoes) stirring in his belly.
“Yeah. Santana used Finn’s stupid kissing booth to give them both mono while it happened. It’s um. Not a chapter I look back on nicely.” Sam’s voice sounded tired more than angry, which is what gave Blaine the courage to look up and meet his eyes.
“Did you ever forgive her? Or Finn? Like…did that scar you for life or anything?” Blaine wrenched his hands together underneath the table, trying to keep his nerves in check.
“Okay, I know this isn’t actually about me and Quinn, but I’m going to entertain your question anyway.” Sam’s smile is small, but it was comforting enough to make Blaine feel a little less nervous. “Forgiving Quinn wasn’t that hard, actually. I mean, yeah, it still hurts like hell if I think about it too hard, but she’s a really good person and I know that. When I saw her at church the week my house got foreclosed on, I knew she was somebody I could trust. Somebody who would have my back. Plus I think, after Beth and all, it was good for her to be around the little guys. My siblings really liked having her around. Finn was a little harder to get over, but I knew it wasn’t personal against me or anything. He was just really trying to get over Rachel I think, but he ended up making everyone more upset in the process, himself included. And now we’re roommates and play video games a good portion of the day. It’s kind of weird, with him helping run the glee club and all right now, but whatever. Does that make you feel any better?”
Blaine smiled a little, looking down at his lap. “Yeah, a little. But like…are you okay? Like, even if you knew it wasn’t personal, did that make dating Mercedes hard?”
“Not really. I mean yeah, I’ll never forget it, but I knew it was a one-off thing. Well, I mean, I knew she cheated on Finn with Puck, but that was another weird thing. I don’t think she really meant to hurt anyone either time. If I got cheated on again, I’d be fucking pissed though. But I knew Mercedes wasn’t that kind of girl. I’m okay now, Blaine. Time fixes a lot, and honestly? Perspective fixes a lot too.” Blaine tries to reach for another fry, but Sam grabs his hand before he makes it to the plate. “He’ll forgive you. I promise. It may not go back to what it was before, but that can be a good thing. Someday, when you’re adults, like real actual adults, you can write it off as teenage hormones or something. Ku-” Sam cut himself off, unsure if Blaine could handle hearing his name. But he swallowed and nodded politely. “Blaine. Kurt will forgive you. I promise. He cares about you so much. What you guys have going on, that’s not something that will fade away overnight, and nothing he can just forget about. I’m gonna be honest and say I wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t want to date again, at least not for a while, but he’ll be back. I promise. If, for no other reason than Burt and Carole still ask about you a bunch. You’re a part of him, and he’s always going to be a part of you. You’re gonna be okay, man. I promise.” Sam’s smile was warm, and Blaine could feel every single word echo inside his head.
“Thank you, Sam. Really. You’re the best best friend a man could ever ask for, you know that?” Blaine moved his hand to give Sam’s a squeeze, before they both let go and Blaine could continue to eat his fries.
“Hell yeah I do. Now finish eating those half-cold oily monsters so I can beat you this time.”
I'm having waaaaaay too much fun with my Blam crack fic. I missed writing humor.
Have a sneak peek:
…Oh.
He got his answer on a Friday night where Blaine decided to stay home to have their Epic Mario Kart Faceoff rather than go out to some club with his friends from work.
He got home looking rather tired and kinda pissed off about some work thingy he wasn’t sure he understood.
So, Blaine came taking off his jacket and unconsciously setting free his curls out of their gel prison, pacing around in front of the TV and the movie he was actually kinda trying to watch. And he really really tried to understand what had happened to let his bro so pissed, but seeing the shorter man like that, all he could really concentrate on was how all that angry-undone look looked totally kinda really hot on him.
…Oh.
So the thing that was different was that he found his best bro totally hot now. In a completely non-platonic non-objective way (since, objectively, he always knew that fact).
But now… Now that fact made him feel all weird a and tingly inside.
… Oh.
“B…?” – he interrupted Blaine mid-rant, looking at his friend with a mild freaked out expression on, what made the brunette drop the hole complaining thing at once, parking his own (pert, round and wasn't Tina right: perfect) ass beside Sam’s on the house couch, looking worried.
“What? What is it Sam? I’m so so sorry…Did something happened?”
“Yeah, it totally did. I just got that I find you hot.” – he blurted out before he could think better of it.
“Y-… What?” – Blaine whispered back, looking like he really, really believed he had suffered a mild stroke right now.
“NO-What? Nothing! I have to-…go. Yeah, I totally have to go... Right now.”
“Go-? Go where?”
“To… sleep! I’m totally super duper tired and not at all responsible for my words right now, so… sleep. Yeah. Right… now…”
“But it’s like eight o’clock.”
“Suuuuper duper ultra tired man, c’mon…”
“…All right?... So... no Epic Super Mario Faceoff?”
When Mercedes leaves Sam behind to start her career and Kurt leaves Blaine behind to pursue his dreams, the two boys reach out to each other for a new friendship. But how serious will that friendship be and will one of them discover something about himself that he never knew before that changes their relationship forever?

This chapter is shorter than the others will be as it just reintroduces the fic. For backstory it would be helpful for you to read The Dalton Military Academy Warblers in whole but if nothing else the final chapter (Chapter 9) as it is sort of an epilogue that leads to here.
Recent events of the global pandemic have been worked into the story.

Summary:
Who would've thought that reading Star Wars fanfiction would lead to this?
Alright so I’ve had this idea for a Blam AU for a while and I'm finally actually writing it. Basically it’s a crossover between Glee and Percy Jackson where Sam is the son of Percy and Annabeth. This is a little snippet of the beginning so let me know if y’all are interested and if you have any suggestions for what I do with the story (I have some base plot lines figured out but not a ton of specifics)
It starts like this.
That shoving match when Sam returns to McKinley? Blaine actually was mad at Sam. Not for stealing his thunder or anything, but he was mad at him. He had to come up with an excuse when Finn came and found him working out, because there was no way Blaine could tell him the truth. First of all, he knew he had to keep the truth a secret no matter what.
And secondly, there was no way in Hades Finn would believe him anyway.
Sorry, no way in hell. Blaine had to keep up appearances after all.
Because Blaine was a demigod, just like out of all the Ancient Greek stories. He’s the son of Hecate, the goddess of magic. It’s a good thing his parents are so absent, otherwise his friends probably would have suspicious of why his “mother” looks absolutely nothing like him, and really doesn’t share many features with his father either.
Blaine had always known his true parentage. His father never kept anything from him, proud he had managed to ensnare a goddess and have a child with her. He was sent to camp for the first time when he was eight and his father decided he didn’t feel like dealing with a child for the summer. As soon as he got to camp he started hearing the stories.
Everything there was Percy Jackson this and Annabeth Chase that, and they were set up to be amazing people who were the greatest heroes ever seen. Sometimes Blaine found himself wondering if they weren’t secretly gods themselves, because everyone at camp seemed to care more about them than the actual gods that were their parents.
Summary: S2 AU ~ Blaine and Sam meet up accidentally and strike up a friendship...and maybe more.

“Wow, that’s really good!”
Sam looked up from the small snowman figurine he was carefully painting a scarf on. He knew it was super uncool to like decorating ceramics, but he figured the chances of him bumping into anyone he knew at Color Me Mine were very slim, plus it was cheap and kept the twins busy….
“Thanks,” he said, setting down the detail brush as he considered the other boy, who was familiar. “Blaine, right? Kurt’s friend?”
The boy nodded, settling down at the table near Sam, placing a reindeer figurine in front of himself. “Yeah,” he agreed. “You’re Sam...I asked Kurt after sectionals. You and Quinn were very impressive in your duet. What an entrance.”
“Thanks,” Sam replied, feeling pleased at the praise even if the mention of him and Quinn as a unit stung. “You were awesome too, dude. There’s a good reason we tied...Stevie, do not paint Stacy’s hair!”
The little boy froze, brush hovering by his sister’s ponytail. He pouted for a moment before returning to his own project.
“Kids,” Sam muttered, amused, then nodded to Blaine. “Stevie, Stacy, this is Blaine.”
The kids chorused hello, more interested in their painting than the teenager.
“It’s very nice of you to bring them here,” Blaine commented as he began to carefully apply a base coat to the little ceramic deer. “My older brother never would have done something like this.”
“They like it, so why wouldn’t I bring them?” Sam mused with a shrug. Dipping his brush into the orange, he carefully colored the Snowman’s carrot nose. “Not like I don’t have fun too.”
Blaine nodded his agreement. “I don’t think any of my friends would understand my fondness for this place.”
“Same,” Sam replied with a grin and the two of them spent the rest of the afternoon chatting until Sam had to take his siblings home.
********
“He, Blaine!”
The next Saturday, Blaine returned to Color Me Mine to pick up his reindeer, which had been in the kiln, setting for the week. He was surprised to hear Sam’s voice behind him, then realized the other boy must be there for the same reason.
Turning to the blond, Blaine smiled. “Hey, Sam...not doing any painting today?”
Last week, it had become obvious that Sam had quite a bit of artistic talent to accompany his enjoyment of painting. The taller boy was still bundled in his coat though, clearly not planning to stay.
Sam shook his head. “Got a football game...do you have plans? Want to came watch?”
The invitation surprised Blaine, but he nodded quickly enough. He followed college football more than high school (Dalton didn’t have full contact sports teams), but he enjoyed the game itself. “I haven’t been to a football game in ages.”
As they packed up their ceramics, Sam grinned. “Stacy might climb on you for warmth,” he teased. “She thinks you look like a Disney prince.”
Blaine laughed. “If I’m a Disney Prince, what are you?”
“Captain Samerica!” Sam said proudly, striking a heroic pose.
Tapping a finger against Sam’s chest (wow, firm under the layers….), Blaine reminded him, “Disney bought Marvel...making Steve a total Disney Prince!”
“That’s true,” Sam mused, not looking put out by this conclusion. “Just warning you...cuz if you break into song, she’s not letting you go.”
Of course, Blaine couldn’t help but sing quietly when Stacy got bored. She didn’t much care for the game if Sam wasn’t on the field. Sam had been right in his prediction, and after the game Blaine had accompanied the Evens’s home, where he and Sam were commanded to sing Disney duets until Stacy was swept off to bed by their mother.
**********
“So, Quinn thinks she broke me,” Sam said the next weekend as he and Blaine poked through the small comic rack at The Lima Public Library. The twins were downstairs doing arts & crafts, but Sam was a bit too old for that. He’d texted Blaine and the other boy had met him at the library to hang out.
Peering at him over a copy of a two month old Spider-Man, Blaine looked puzzled. “Why would she think that?”
Sam sighed. “It’s stupid. Finn said something about the game last week….”
In a moment of clarity, Blaine had to bite back a laugh. “Oh God...don’t tell me. Finn saw me there and saw that I was hanging out with you….”
“And Quinn thinks her dumping me made me gay. Because yeah, that’s a thing that happens,” Sam snorted, rolling his eyes at the faulty reasoning. “Besides...ugh, it’s just annoying that she thinks she has any say about my sexuality and Santana keeps making comments about my lips. I went to an all boys school, like I haven’t heard alll the comments.”
“All you can do is tell them you’re not interested in boys and hope they move on,” Blaine advised, a little flush on his cheeks.
Rolling his eyes, Sam huffed, “I wish it was that easy. Santana, in addition to the comments, keeps making veiled demands that I date her now...and I’m not gonna straight up lie. Ha. Pun, I think!”
Blaine’s head tipped to the side slightly, obviously puzzled.
Sam shifted and shrugged. “Well, I’m not gay...I like girls, but...I like guys too.” His breath came out in a rush. This was the first time he’d said those words to anyone other than his parents. “They don’t know, my friends at school.”
“Am I the first person you’ve told?” Blaine asked gently, putting the comic down and stepping a little closer to Sam, keeping his voice low.
“No,” Sam assured him with a shake of his head. “I told my folks and they said that it meant God just put extra love in my heart and as long as I’m happy, they’re happy. I...It’s never been a big thing before, cuz I never liked another boy in real life before, just like crushes on actors and stuff, you know?”
“Actor crushes are safe,” Blaine agreed with a soft smile. “God knows I’ve had enough of those. And with the Captain America movie coming out this Summer….”
“Chris Evans,’ Sam agreed with a nod. “I’m partial to RDJ’s Tony Stark myself, but no denying hotness.”
“No,” Blaine agreed and Sam felt his heart skip at the happy little smile on the shorter boy’s face.
“Anyhow...Rachel’s throwing a party next weekend...I was wondering if you might want to go with me?” Sam blurted. “Like...go with me, go with me?”
He didn’t know how else to say it, but Blaine seemed to understand.
“I’d like that, Sam,” he said, reaching out and touching Sam’s wrist. “Are you sure you’re ready for that?”
Sam nodded. He liked Blaine and he didn’t care who knew. “Yeah, I am,” he said, turning his wrist and catching Blaine’s fingers in his own.
They stood there, smiling at each other, hands clasped until Stacy ran into Sam’s legs to show him her arts and crafts project.
