All I can see is Blaine trying to talk Sam into wearing a bowtie (because you know, bowties are cool) and Sam being like "I don't know, man - I feel like that's your thing, not mine." So Blaine buys this bowtie for Sam and then buys himself a coordinating one because it's two of his favorite things - bowties AND comic books - what's not to love about that? And of course Sam is like "best present ever - okay you got me Blaine, bowties actually can be cool."

Sam has always been insecure about his appearance. Blaine was always there to tell and show Sam exactly how beautiful he is. That’s why Sam is very surprised to learn that all of the comments Sam makes about himself, that he’s not fit enough or his abs have flab, have started to make Blaine feel self conscious about his own body. In college, Blaine and Sam rent a cheap, run-down apartment together.  To lighten up the place, Sam paints the walls with whatever designs, colors, or subjects he pleases, whenever the inspiration strikes.  One of Blaine’s favorite activities is to watch his boyfriend while he does this. submitted by savesomerum
