So, the Blood Angels place physical appearance and artistry on a high pedestal thanks to Big Papa Sanguinius, right? Keep yourselves in line mentally, physically, and spiritually so you don't fall victim to the Red Thirst/Black Rage.

But since Baal is a desert, how do you think the Blood Angels take a bath? When they come back from battles all crusted with blood and daemon guts, how do they wash up and get pretty?

I'm of two thoughts:

Thought number 1: In the interest of pragmatism, they have military showers in a barrack setting. Distinct cubicles with locking doors and rather sparse trappings. Water is limited; bathe as thoroughly as possible as fast as possible and gfto! You can preen later; preferably without using more water.

Thought number 2: Fuck it, go whole hog. A massive bathing complex overtop of an oasis or--since the Arx Angelicum is built on an extinct volcano--underground hot springs that either make up the Blangel's baths, or are pumped into more elaborate baths above them.

Art of my Blood Angels Apothecary, Brother Caphriel, commissioned from @theycallmekaibara! I've been commissioning Britt for years and she's never disappointed with her amazing artwork.

Caphriel has appeared in such fanfictions as Beloved of the Blood Moons and Sir, That's My Emotional Support Baseline. (Both works NSFW.) Expect to see Caphriel in future works to come!

Brother Caphriel is very picky about the serfs that he drinks from. It's not just about their physical health; he knows any and all health concerns and conditions about every single living being in the Arx Angelicum.

Some Blood Angels view drinking from serfs as shameful, and some of them view it as nothing more than eating another meal. But Caphriel wants it to be something more intimate. He is taking the life force of someone else to fuel his own, so he wants to create a bond between himself and the serfs he drinks from.

As a result, Caphriel will select serfs he is--emotionally--attracted to. Physical looks don't matter as much, though occasionally Caphriel enjoys having sex with his serfs before feeding. (Never after; he wants them to rest and have lots of food and fluids!)

He doesn't really mind if they service other Blood Angels, but Caphriel does get a little frustrated when a Blood Angel flirts with a serf he is currently courting with the intent to feed from.

Regarding other Blood Angels of note, Caphriel has a scale of friendliness with them:

Astorath: Caphriel views their jobs as two halves of the same coin. They both must save their brethren; Caphriel from death and Astorath from themselves. The two have a grim respect for each other, and Astorath prays that Caphriel will not be claimed by his blade.

Mephiston: They see one another but rarely; working on opposite sides of the Arx Angelicum. If Mephiston referred to his relationship with Caphriel as “functioning,” Caphriel would be shocked that Mephiston thought of him so closely.

Dante: He sees Caphriel, and that worries him. So young, and yet already acting beyond his years with wisdom and patience. But this is the grim darkness of the far future. Caphriel could die tomorrow, today, within the next hour. His shoulders are already broad with the weight that he carries.

Even worse, when Caphriel looks at Dante, there are stars in his eyes. Caphriel wants to be just like him. Dante will go to every length to protect him from such a fate.
