“Well, if you guys need me or anything. I will be around the food booths, chowing down on some delicious food.”
So... Cherry Blossom fest is here again. So I guess that means that I’m gonna have actually go outside of the apartment, doesn’t it? Haven’t exactly been feeling that lately. At least I’m not expected to hang out until later so I can just hide backstage, right?
energy; open
The spring music festival was well underway. They were four days in, and so far, Ariane had partied and played like there was no tomorrow. White Lines had taken the main stage the day before, which made her thankfully, for once, that there was no afterparty. She desperately needed to recharge. The band had gotten a great reception -- they always did with their hometown crowd -- and no doubt their evening signing would be any less popular.
As her alarm went off for the thousandth time, Ari finally rolled over in bed to glance at the time. She’d never been a morning person, never would be. Yet, when she saw that it was already 10:00 AM, the start of the festivities, she threw off her covers and raced to get ready like her life depended on it. She didn’t feel like getting told off by the label staff or her bandmates for being late, even though it was hardly old news. Snatching a blueberry muffin from the kitchen for breakfast, she rushed out the door and caught the first available monorail to Prospect Park. Thanks to the high speed trains, she arrived in ten minutes or so, her hair still slightly untamed from her morning panic.
Once through the staff entrance, her first destination was the cooler of energy drinks. Personally, she preferred coffee, but she’d take what she could get. Without caffeine, she feared she wouldn't make it through noon. Of course, the only real plans she had were to snoop on the newbies’ (aka Starry Eyes and Bias Steamroller) interview and check out New Romantic’s set for Lucy. After that, it was all work and maybe she’d find some manner of play for herself. Only the staff had a party planned for the night, leaving the musicians to their own devices -- not necessarily the smartest move.
“Ew, god. Why do people actually like this stuff?” The drummer asked aloud to no one in particular as she sipped the energy drink she’d broken into, trying not to cough against the sharpness. “It tastes like... sour, liquid sugar or something.”
“I’m hella excited for this Cherry Blossom stuff.”
“The city’s been so quiet lately. I never thought that could happen.”
“Where could everybody be? I sent them an email, and various texts. Telling them to meet me here. At 2:00 PM. Now it’s 2:30 and they aren’t even here yet.”
“So I’ve got coffee, an electric guitar, and a pack of smokes. Who’s game?”
“I forgot how easy it is to get distracted and lost in the city. Or that maybe I’m an idiot...”
