I have a lot of thoughts on the missed opportunities with the Two-Gun Kid in Dan Slott's She-Hulk run. It is very clear that Matt is only brought in as comic relief, but he has so much going on with his relationship to the future, the fact that technically Matt himself is serving jail time, and the ongoing plot about the firm deciding to defend supervillains. The narrative treats this as an unambiguously scummy move that's only made in the interest of raking in profit....
except like.... most of the other writers who handle matt talk about his belief that guilty men deserve access to quality legal representation, to the point of doing it himself. (the fact that this was a consistent character trait of his across multiple writers in the 60s is frankly proof that this is the core of his character.) Matt should have had a lot to say about this in support of providing legal representation, even if it meant disagreeing with Jen, but he is the character who comments the least on this development and he never shows even a passing interest in legal matters.
What is Matt's place in the future, where mystery men are a dime a dozen? Englehart touched on this in a very minor way (and boy, do I have thoughts on how Englehart handles Matt but that's a whole other discussion) but Slott has no interest in actually looking at Matt as a whole, complex character and just sands away all the parts that are too complicated for a humor book. And now that's the Matt every other writer is using even though there is literally SO Much to be done with him and his current situation (even without TOUCHING the gay little mess with hawkeye)
honestly im thinking of either changing or going up on my birth control because im like, terrible mood and pain wise for a solid week every fucking month.
ugh im just gonna go back to super mystery dungeon
I need to drive my car because I haven't driven it in like 2 weeks. I SHOULD go up and get gas but I don't feel like it. I don't even feel like going to the comic shop. I'm having one of those days.
Jesus the next few weeks are jammy dodger packed. I have a interview for college tomorrow (absolutely pooing myself about it), Friday is own clothes day (which is fancy dress day for my year, me and the kids are going as Wally's), Monday is the clothes show!!!! And then we have this stupid mock interview day thing on the Wednesday... And then just all the usual Christmas shit and the fact that I have 4 very important exams as soon as we come back in January. Fun :/ Anyway yeah I'm just excited but stressed and I dunno. Wait I nearly forgot- today before school dawn walked in and produced about 30 pictures of Brian Peppers (as the queen, the Biebs, etc) and started to hand them out to us for no apparent reason. I love my friends
Don't you just love those bitch moods where you randomly feel the need to snap at your mom? ... asdfghgfdsa
