“Before me, it was Øystein, or Euronymous, who created the music, at least he spoke of it - with some input from other people. When I was in the band, I created 100% of all the music, so when I left, the two guitar players now - they’re writing all the music. So what is ‘Mayhem’ but ‘playing the guitar’ or ‘being the composer’ at the time given, you know? And also, people have been saying that ‘it sounds like Mayhem’ - no, but you know what? What Mayhem? Are you talking about ‘Deathcrush’? Or are you talking about ‘De Mysteriis…’? Because those albums sound nothing like those two releases. It sounds probably more along the lines of what I did in Mayhem, you know what I mean? And this is something that I think people don’t really understand - that I wrote everything, so essentially…Not to get anybody pissed off or to ruin any illusion, but when I was in the band, I did everything musically, so whatever you’re hearing is my riffs. So, was it ‘Mayhem’ or was it me? Now - I think it sounds a little bit different, but it definitely did before I joined the band, so I don't really care too much about this kind of thing, I think it’s kind of overrated, and I think more power should be given to the people in charge, at those given periods they were in the bands.”
