Flying Lessons
Ethan took a deep breath and - driven by a mixture of excitement and trepidation - launches himself into the air.
But then, as swiftly as he ascended, he begins to lose his balance. A creeping wave of panic washes over him, and his flight takes an abrupt downturn. His eyes widen, and his heart races. he waved his arms frantically in a desperate attempt to regain control.
Blauelfe, the ever-watchful fairy, doesn't let him fall, with a quick flap of her insect-like wings, she was at his side. The fairy swoops in, swiftly catching his arms and locking eyes with him.
"Keep your thoughts calm." Her gentle, but firm voice grounded him. "Don't let those bad things invade your mind."
The young man blinked up at her, while his mind remained its usual mess. Quiet his mind? When was the last time he ever did this? Was ever a time at all? A bitter laugh escaped his lips at the thought.
Blau frowned at his reaction, gripping his more firmly and shooking her head. "Think of flowers. Picture the vibrant colors, imagine the sweet fragrance. Think of birds and their melodious songs, echoing through the forest. Let the symphony of life fill your mind."
Ethan's breathing slows as he closes his eyes, desperately trying to focus. After a few seconds, he could think straighter.
A finger hooked under the chin, lifting his head. Ethan's stunned eyes meet the blue fairy's serene and serious ones. "The clouds in your mind will guide your flight." she said. "Do not let this happen."
