Aiden looked up from her book, hearing the strange request. She let out a small chuckle, not sure what to make of it. She closed her book and watched carefully for a moment. She wasn't going to deny someone such a request with them being close by. She reached over and pinched his arm. "I don't know why you want to be pinched. But I figured I'd answer the call."

"well, that's the last of it - " he says, putting the last of the boxes down on the ground. the building's empty but it's meant to be something one of these days. moving out to new orleans had been done on a whim. his parents had had a lot to say about that. but this was the hub of it all, wasn't it? the things that they had trained him for. they said he wasn't ready. but he brushed that off, a little too eager to get a head start. but lately he was all about setting this place up, getting a good act to play in it, suddenly become known. and that thought seemed to undo him just a little bit, didn't it? that wasn't the plan. at least it hadn't started that way. "thanks for the help…." he say passing completely inside so that he could shut the door. "you expecting to get tipped or something?"

Such confessions were normally reserved for someone who held sentimental attachment and yet give a guy and drink and the secrets would spill. It was funny really wasn’t it? No matter how strong minded a person was, alcohol loosened the tongue. Lips twitched, listening to Larkin’s declaration, both intrigued and dubious. ( It was entirely possible that he was pulling his leg. Then again he did seem the brooding sort, his scent curious to say the least. ) It wasn’t often he couldn’t decipher one's origins, intelligence concealed underneath eons of life experience. Brow lifted, palm settling around the glass of whiskey, nursing it with a faint hum of acknowledgement. They were worse topics of conversation.

‘Well lucky for you, it takes a lot to hurt me. So suck it up, buttercup. You’ve got yourself a drinking buddy.’

Roman sat, bobbing his knee frantically from underneath the table, biting at his sore knuckles as he had his mind fixated to a situation he wanted to avoid...forever.

"Any of this stupid shit - yet I can't just sit here and neglect her. I just don't know how good of a father I can be to her" he added, feeling the stress become more prominent in his voice.
