Summary: This is Au during the Fulbringer arc. A long time ago Shinigami knew what it meant to be soul mates. As time passed they have either forgotten or buried the truth. But with the loss of Ichigo's Shinigami powers, Shiro takes it upon himself to help Ichigo in the only way he can when he has no direct access to his wielder anymore. And he gets something out of it too.
Opinion: *Internal Screaming.* I love this fic a normal amount. Nah but for real this fic is *Chief Kiss*. So good. Like Ichigo’s coming out scene works and is realistic. Ishida, Orihime and Chad all acknowledge that ignoring Ichigo after he lost his powers was shitty and Isshin is called out on his questionable parenting of Ichigo without bashing. Also somehow the UraIchi manages to be realistically soft. It doesn’t feel out of character the way they act. I also love that soulmates are dealt with realistically and fits in the canon universe. If you like UraIchi this fic is a must-read.

Opinion: This fic is a classic. My first UlquiHime fic actually. It’s what got me into UlquiHime and while it might be nostalgia talking I think it’s amazing. The characterization feels real you know. It makes sense for the circumstances. It’s kinda a popcorn fic but it does have some plot that works via canon plot for the Aizen Villain Arc but with the All Human AU twist.

Well, to be clear, one of the reasons I'm writing fics is that I feel few of the fics I can find have captured the exact and highly specific things I want to explore about the setting. So none of these are really doing what I wanted to do with either of my current Bleach WIP fics? However, I do have some recs!

freedom above all things by hellbeast (https://archiveofourown.org/series/1006401) is a fic series I have recommended before and I will continue to recommend it because 1. I cannot be controlled and 2. I love OC/SI fics that are heavy on worldbuilding and fuck with canon. Weird and fun.
I rediscovered Grimmjow's (*muffled sounds of my repressed cute aggression*) little toe beans recently, so the following includes a staggering amount of Grimmjow, even though if you asked me which pairings I liked best they probably wouldn't be Grimmjow pairings. I contain multitudes AND I'm weak to kitty claws.
Many of murderlight's short Bleach fics are good fun. I like:

- Something Fishy 🐠 (https://archiveofourown.org/works/1595876) which is a fun and absurd Grimmjow/Ichigo fic about Ichigo's brief but dramatic mermaid transformation, and
- Landmines 💥 (https://archiveofourown.org/works/57729919) a less comedic but pleasantly iddy short Grimmjow/Ichigo fic about getting a bit paralysed in the empty world.
Asuka Kureru has written several fun Grimmjow/Ichigo fics, including:
- Candy for Cannibals (https://archiveofourown.org/works/16888248), which is basically a Bleach take on the old Canadian Shack trope
- Yield (https://archiveofourown.org/works/17421326), a short Ichigo/Grimmjow fic that's noncon but in which Ichigo is really very sweet for a rapacious out-of-control cannibal monster, and
- Superhero Love Triangle (https://archiveofourown.org/works/23202550), which is a superhero AU that blends the Bleach hollow worldbuilding with the expected superhero stuff.
voxofthevoid has written several really fun Grimmjow/Ichigo fics also:

Forever Never Sounded So Stupid by junko (https://archiveofourown.org/works/7804363) is a fun Ichigo/Aizen fic. I personally don't especially like Aizen as a character, so if you are an Aizen fan you may particularly enjoy it.
Falsetto Tormental by balimaria (https://archiveofourown.org/works/35617504) is a very cool exploration of Ichigo getting stuck as a hollow and what that might be like, which I love.
Rōnin by glacis (https://archiveofourown.org/works/4793444) is a Bleach/Ouran Highschool Host Club crossover that's fast paced and fun.
Ulterior Motives by triste (https://archiveofourown.org/works/569509) was my favourite Ichigo/Ishida fic from LiveJournal Ago and I think it's still probably the best one on AO3 because I have been STRUGGLING to find the secret hidden good ichiishi.
There May Be Some Collateral Damage by metisket (https://archiveofourown.org/works/5030443) is a much loved Harry Potter/Bleach crossover in which Ichigo goes to Hogwarts and upsets everyone.

the ever increasing list of things that are not going to be okay (https://archiveofourown.org/works/11616789) is my favourite of them. It's a Victorian era Whitechapel murders Nnoitra/Tesla fic. In Which Hanataro Has a Series of Unfortunate Experiences (https://archiveofourown.org/works/14765880) is probably the one I would most love to come back to one day. It's got legs. It's about how a very timid shinigami healer gets lost in Hueco Mundo and becomes entangled with the espada.
