the sun wouldn’t be out for much longer, the two kids would need to arrive back home before it gets dark, but atticus didn’t want to leave, not just yet. he isn’t done speaking with mercy — his friend, his confidant ( his follower ). atticus, he was following in his father’s footsteps, very close. and as soon as he was old enough, the boy would join joseph at the alter, in the center of their loyal disciples. for now, he reaches out to take another chocolate chip cookie from the plate mercy offered, chewing delicately, savoring each piece until half is gone. ‘ don’t worry — i ain’t gonna let no one take you away from us, ’ bright eyes move toward mercy, sincere yet not. ‘ y’ain’t goin’ no where... i promise, ’ @bleedfaith.
