Fig literally paid off and/or threatened every man in town and in both neighboring towns so that he could marry Violet. Her lack of standing be damned he would be marrying the girl he fell in love with at nine years old if it was the last thing he ever did.

Me, right now: what the fuck was I thinking this is historical fiction and fantasy all in one that’s so much fucking research and my cast of characters is so big because they go through five reincarnations and they’re all slightly different so that’s 25 characters just for my core 5 and I gotta actually name them all I can’t just keep referring to them by the year uvhhhhhhh

Thinking a lot about Dryslon & Ambrose (Drysrose) and Violet & Alistair (Viostair) recently and I feel like I need to do a lore drop on them… because I’m very unwell about them and I need people to know that they were basically still kids when Drys burned the town to the ground.

I need people to know that Alistair orchestrated his and Violet’s courtship/engagement mastermind style because he’d been in love with her since he was 9.

I need people to know that Ambrose went off to war at 16 and came back home for Dryslon and only Dryslon but didn’t realize it was for her. I need people to know that Dryslon and Ambrose were friends until they suddenly weren’t.
