Blek Pine Seriez Peach Vol.2, 6.4%, APA, Bulgaria

Peach it up!

Extremely foamable. That's what I will remember Blek Pine Seriez Peach Vol.2 by. 

It produces a huge white head that just refuses to go away. Five minutes after pouring almost all of it was still there. 

This APA was made using real peaches and you can see that in the color - a rich and dark orange. 

In the nose you get a yeasty sour aroma and not much else. 

You can feel the peaches in the taste which is a blend of bitter, sweet and sour in equal proportions with a dry/sour finish. 

Overall, not a bad experimental beer.

The Verdict: Color/Aroma: 7.5/10  Body: 6/10  Taste: 5.5/10 Overall: 6.35/10

AnimaAle (BlekPine & 100Beers Collab.), 5.1%, Session IPA, Bulgaria

Have a brew, save a dog!

100beers.bg , Bulgaria’s first true craft beer shop and one of the main engines behind our craft awakening, came together with the brewers from Blek Pine and Animal Rescue Sofia in order to bring you AnimAle -  a craft beer with a cause! Every bottle contributes almost 25% of the selling cost towards Animal Rescue Sofia in an effort to help homeless dogs in need and nurture them back to prime condition and showcasr all the cute doggies waiting for adoption :)

The whole thing is amazing and heart warming and deserves applause and admiration.

But I suspect you also care about the beer and what it’s like?

Basically, AnimAle is a single-hop, Citra Session Ale that has been bottle conditioned.

It’s cloudy, brownish and short-headed with a super yeasty aroma.

Medium bodied and medium carbonated. Not very palatable.

The beer tastes slightly sweet, medium bitter and also kinda salty.

Unfortunately its taste feels less like an intentional blend of different nuances and more like a mash-up. It lacks freshness and is extremely dry. The Verdict: 6/10 Color/Aroma: 7/10  Body: 6/10  Taste: 5/10

Blek Pine / Divo Pivo Plum Ale, 7%, Amber Ale, Bulgaria Color/Aroma: 7/10  Body: 7/10  Taste: 8/10  Overall: 7.35/10

This here collaboration between "Divo Pivo" (known for their ales and bears) and "Blek Pine" (Known for always yeasting up the bottles and their crazy labels and spelling) is very important as it is the first ever colab between Bulgarian craft breweries!

It's brewed with baked plums and is released as an autumn ale. 

There is nothing surprising in terms of color (hazy amber, misty) and smell (light hints of caramel due to the brown sugar they used) but it hits the spot where it matters - in your mouth! It tastes sweet but also sour. There's plums but also hops. It ends bitter as it should and dry as most beers from Blek Pine do. 

Once you warm it up you get that plum smell very distinctively. The taste also flourishes. It becomes richer and deeper.

It was rich and tasty when cool but once it got cozier, this brew really came to life. Well done!
