Assistance - A Blemily Fic (Written by Erin)
It was probably safe to say that the first couple weeks at Emily's new school hadn't been all that smooth. She had been late to at least one class a day, her homework was already piling up, and she could feel judging stares on her every time she walked anywhere. On one particularly crummy day, she was pulling her books out of her locker as the crowds bustled around her. As they pushed past her, she could hear snippets of conversation amongst the upperclassmen (even though she was only a sophomore, the only lockers available to her when she'd started were in the seniors' hallway). More than one of them involved hushed exchanges about the “weirdo transfer kid from Ohio.”
Upon hearing these, Emily's teeth clenched together as she fought to put a smile on her face, spinning around on her heel and closing her locker door behind her, her books in her arms. As she tried to walk away from the locker, though, something suddenly yanked her back and she fell backwards, her back smashing into the locker wall behind her and books flying away from her to scatter over the floor. Of course, in her haste to get moving to class, Emily had closed the bottom of her jacket in her locker, which had caught and caused her to lose her balance when she tried to walk away. Of course, she silently said to herself as she slipped her arms out of her jacket sleeves, what else could go wrong today?
That question was promptly answered when she started hearing people laughing at her as they walked by, not even bothering to try and help. Emily sighed, starting to crawl around on the floor to try and gather her things together before hearing a voice, “Hey... need some help?”
Looking up to where the voice had come from, Emily found herself coming to face-to-face with... well... a face. A familiar face. His face. The face of Blake Jenner; football quarterback, salutatorian for the senior class, and had a smile that melted the hearts of every single girl in the school. He was probably the most prime stock in the building, and he was stopping to help some lowly sophomore newbie.
Blake smiled, taking the hand that wasn't holding some of Emily's books and offering it to her, pulling her to her feet. Even though neither of them said a word, the two shared a smile and the kindness of the gesture sent Emily's stomach flipping inexplicably. Hm. Maybe it won't be so bad here after all.
Karaoke - A Blemily Fic (Written by Erin)
Emily had been having a bad day. The patrons at work had seemed even crappier than usual, she had received three different rejection emails about roles she had auditioned for, and she had needed to spend almost all her free time watching how happy her friends were with their boyfriends. Overall, she was feeling sad, lonely, and not particularly good about herself.
In order to bring her out of this slump, Erin and Max had come to visit Emily to drag her out of her apartment and to a karaoke bar for some dinner and a little fun. They had (probably not coincidentally) run into Blake while they were there, and he had promptly decided to join them in their festivities. Still, Emily's mood had declined to a point where the last thing she wanted to do was have fun. In the slightest.
“Come on, Emily,” Blake nudged her lightly from where he was sitting at the table with her, “Cheer up! All I want is to see you smile.”
“Good luck,” Emily muttered in response, her chin in her hand as she watched Erin and Max duet up on the stage. They both looked so happy. In love. Together. Screw them and their lack of lonlieness. Why did the ginger get to be so happy? Weren't gingers supposed to be miserable soulless beings?
“I know something that might make you smile,” Blake said, and Emily looked back over to see him getting up from the table as Erin and Max finished up. As they left the stage, Blake quickly strode over and spoke to the worker behind the machine before hopping up onstage and taking the mic in his hand. As the bar quieted down at the appearance of a Glee star singing, Blake smiled and his eyes found Emily, “This song is for one of the most beautiful girls I know. She needs to know how I see her.” At that, he smiled a bit and began to sing, “Made a wrong turn, once or twice. Dug my way out, blood and fire...”
Emily perked up, her eyes narrowing curiously as the music began to play. Blake started to sing his heart out, his eyes not leaving hers for a second, and Emily could see Erin and Max jamming in her peripheral vision. Against her wishes, Emily felt her heart begin to swell slightly, and as Blake reached the climax of the song a smile spread across her face in joy.
A triumphant spark flashed in Blake's expression as he finished the song, and as he came back over to the table Emily stood up. He gave her a curious look, and she simply playfully narrowed her eyes and slapped his shoulder, “You bastard. I was determined not to have fun and you ruined it.”
Blake laughed, crushing Emily in a bear hug, “You're welcome, Em. Like I said, all I wanted was for you to smile.”
“Well you got what you wanted,” she said, looking back up at him and smiling wider, “Now come on, let's have some fun!”
Visit - A Blemily Fic (Written by Erin)
An intermediate fic; takes place before the two are formally dating
“I told you, I don’t care what it takes, just get that lazy bum husband of mine up and moving! We have dinner plans in an hour and I’m not having him looking like the slob he is!”
Emily fought the urge to roll her eyes, handing the customer jabbering into her phone their low-fat, skim milk frappuchino with extra extra caramel. The customer snatched the drink away, muttering something about ‘crappy service’ before walking away. Letting out a sigh, Emily turned back to the counter and began wiping it down with a rag before hearing a knock on the counter. Looking up, she found herself face to face with her favorite goofy smile and felt her heart swell slightly at the friendly face, “Well hey Blake; finish your scenes early?”
“Yup,” he nodded, “And I figured I should stop by and visit my favorite barista. Judging by the look on your face when I walked in, you needed it.”
Emily just nodded, “I guess you could say that. New York Starbucks customers seem to be the rudest people in the world.”
“That’s the general public for you,” Blake pointed out, earning a nod out of the girl. “Now, I would like to order, please.”
“Oh yeah, of course,” Emily replied, sliding over to the register and beginning to plug in an order, “The usual, I take it?”
“Actually,” Blake stopped her, causing Emily to look up curiously from the register, “I’d like a grande white mocha, if you could.”
“Sure… coming right up!” Emily nodded, plugging in the order and having Blake pay for it before heading to prep it.
“So, you won’t believe what Nell sent me earlier,” Blake said, coming over to lean on the counter as Emily made the drink for him. Emily looked over her shoulder at him and raised an eyebrow, and he simply laughed a bit, “Michael had the lack of sense to walk into the Market wearing khakis, of all things. Nell was apparently dying of laughter as she sent me the picture.” Emily let out a loud cackle that caused half of the patrons in the shop to turn to look at the pair. Blake smiled a bit, “And there’s the laugh I was looking for.”
“And here is the drink you were looking for,” Emily stated, quickly finishing up the drink and sliding it down the counter to him. When he stopped it and sent it back to her, her expression changed to one of confusion, “What’s wrong? You said white mocha, right?”
“I did,” he nodded, “But I never told you it was for me.”
Emily was confused, but then it dawned on her. “Oh, you little sh~”
“Bye, Em! Text ya later!” Blake spat out before hastily leaving the shop. Emily simply laughed quietly, picking up the drink and taking a sip as the door swung shut behind Blake.
Flu - A Blemily Fic (Written by Erin)
I still feel so inadequate since short fics are FAR from being my specialty. Still, Em requested it, so enjoy folks! :3
Emily let out a string of coughs, seeming to be close to hacking up a lung as she sat on the couch in her apartment. Due to the string of rehearsals and performances, she had come down with a bad bout of the flu and was bedridden as she tried to recover in time for her performance on Monday. “You okay, babe?” a voice came from the other room and Emily looked up to see her boyfriend Blake poking his head in.
“I’m fine, Blake,” she reassured him, deciding not to let on that she had recently been vomiting up the entire contents of the breakfast he had made for her that morning. “Go back to the script; you have to get those lines down.”
Blake pouted briefly before stepping fully out into the room and closing the door to his bedroom behind him, “I was about to take a break anyway. You seem to need me more.”
Emily sighed, rolling her eyes as he came over to the couch and lifted her legs to sit down and place her feet on his lap. “So what’re we watching?” At that moment, the face of his Glee Project years popped up on the television screen and he sighed, “Of course.”
“Hey, who’s the sick one here?” Emily asked, giving him a curious look.
“Fair enough,” he nodded, then reached over to gently brush a strand of hair out of her eyes, “How’re you feeling, anyway? Any better?”
Emily shrugged, “I’ve been better.” Suddenly, Blake’s hand paused across her forehead, his face twisting into one of worry. “What’s wrong?”
“Your fever’s spiking again,” he said, quickly getting back up from the couch to go to the kitchen for some cold medicine. As he looked through the cabinet holding the apartment’s stash of meds, he then frowned again, “I don’t see any more dayquil stuff in here; did you take the last of it earlier?”
Emily just nodded, leaning her head back against the arm of the couch and closing her eyes to try and sleep some more. Hearing Blake walking across the floor, she suddenly felt him kiss her lightly on the forehead, “I’m gonna head out to pick up some more, okay? You just get some rest.” Emily simply nodded, not opening her eyes as the door to the apartment opened, “Love you, Em.”
“Love you, too,” she replied, then her eyes shot open as she realized what she just said. The door suddenly shot back open to reveal Blake, whose eyes showed that he had just registered the exchange.
Nothing more was said between them, but a goofy smile spread across Blake’s face, earning a laugh from Emily before he gave her a wink and closed the door behind him.
