Blessed Lammas!
It's August 1st and that means it's Lammas! Today is a celebration of the first harvest where wheat was collected and turned into bread. It is a day we bake breads and cakes, have a feast, and decorate altars with imagery of corn, grapes, apples, wheat, or anything that may be harvested around this time of the year. We do rituals to thank the earth for it's harvest. We share the bread as a community, and all come together to celebrate.
This Lammas was the first year I've made a corn dolly. There isn't too much to harvest for me as we've had a bad drought here where I live in central Florida. I was able to harvest some flowers, green onions, and rosemary. Later today I'll be having a feast with my family and decorate my altar with the things I've harvested. I'll be ending the day by having some homemade cinnamon rolls to represent the wheat that is harvested this time of the year.
From Brew & Bramble and my entire family I want to wish you a blessed Lammas.
