aurordora asked @blessurenoir: “I’m a nobody.”
with nymphadora she has always been gentler than with anyone else, softer, kinder, but these words spark something flint-hard in her grey eyes, sharp and unyielding (though turned not toward nymphadora, not ever - - not at all, turned instead toward all that made these words tumble so easily from her lips.) “that isn’t true.” she reaches for her daughter’s face, holds it light and gentle between her hands, thumbs caressing cheekbones. “who made you think such a thing?” fingers move through bright hair, tuck it behind an ear (she cannot make her daughter settle on one color, dora has always been kaleidoscopic, she has learned not to mind). you are a black, she thinks, they are the first words, knit so deep that she cannot be rid of them, they are her own mother’s words (she swallows them, they go down hard). “my nymphadora - - how could you possibly be a nobody?”
*:・゚✧ A low breath whistled though her teeth as Tonks attempted to summon the strength not to burst into tears. Her self confidence was completely shattered in this moment, as was her heart that had been broken into a million pieces an hour ago when she’d watched as her husband’s back disappeared out the door. After the fight she’d gone through to get him to give into his feelings and then the one earlier today to keep him from running away Tonks felt f r a g me n t e d , a hollow shell of the witch she’d once been.
“My own husband walked out on me mum.
I told him I’m pregnant and he left me. Daddy
stayed by you even though no one wanted
you together, but I’m not worth the fight to
Remus apparently.”
Her hand moved absentmindedly over her belly. She hadn’t begun to show yet but she could feel the magic growing within her.
“Well I may be a nobody, but this baby is ɴᴏᴛ.”
