oppressive neon glow of the geneco towers bled through arched windows of the opera house dressing room, casting long shadows across velvet furniture. finley leaned against the edge of the vanity table, absentmindedly tossing a heavy roll of surgical tape from hand to hand. being rotti’s prized repo man meant having access to the darkest, dirtiest corners of the city, as well as the high society gilded cages, like the one he’s in now. truthfully, fin hated the opera. he hated the synthetic perfection of it all, designed to distract the masses while men like him carved debtors in the alleyways below. he liked mag, though. found a strange solace in her, though he didn’t hold her to feeling the same, or carrying that feeling with her. he caught her reflection in the mirror, eyes tracking the distinct blue hue of her branded eyes.
‘i know i say it every time, but you deserve way better than this,’ finley said almost too softly, though voice still cut through the quiet. he stopped tossing the tape, now letting it rest on the vanity’s surface as he crossed his arms over his chest. voice lowered as much as possible, allowing mag to hear, but nothing and no one else, if they were around. ‘i could always steal you some new ones, y’know . . . i know someone who can swap ‘em, too . . . i don’t like seeing you live like this,’ @studiodrafts.
he hadn't exactly been careful. it wasn't as if finley was afraid of getting caught, not with how much protection he had from rotti. that didn't mean he wanted to be confronted for it. called out on it. and by someone he thought he could trust, someone he's known since this whole shit show started. blind mag was just as much under rotti's thumb as he was, so why would she barge in here, making accusations? not just trying to unveil him as the repo man, but trying to make finley believe that his father was . . . what? alive? imprisoned by the same man who hired him? 'you don't know what you're talking about,' finley tries to control angered breathing, hands resting on his hips. 'i don't see you for months, and suddenly you just show up here . . . how would you've even heard about this?' @ephemaera.
I'd rather take my eyes out.
Repo! The Genetic Opera, I adore Blind Mag (above). I think that I actually prefer this to the Rocky Horror Picture Show, (blasphemy, I know.)
I hope you have a thing for medicine and surgery though.
