'thank god, because i don't want us to be caught unaware,' wishful thinking, finley knew, but he had to admit, having cynthia around was efficient. her abilities weren't the only reason fin enjoyed her being here, of course, but he'd be lying if he said it wasn't helpful. he was holding a glitching emf reader in one hand, his camera in the other, gut rumbling with the sense of impending danger. 'i mean . . . kinda your mistake for trusting me in the first place, right?' finley shrugged one shoulder, unaffected by the words. whether either of them were joking or not, fin was trustworthy in most situations. he was mostly an honest man, though he knew some omissions were needed to keep himself and the others around him safe. trespassing was the least of his prolems, and probably the least bad of all of his crimes, though it was the one he committed the most. how else was he supposed to get into places he wasn't allowed it? he was lucky not to get caught, most of the time, despite him mumbling to himself and turning on the camera over his light to see a place more clearly. tonight, that luck had run out. his gut had alerted him first to potential danger, then the footsteps confirmed that someone else had approached. 'well . . . shit,' he announced, though didn't turn around just yet, only letting the other know he knew they were there. when he did glance over his shoulder, he saw a man - much more muscular than him - staring at the back of his head. 'man, you totally messed up the . . . surprise party. yeah. all of your friends aren't even here yet,' it wouldn't work, but at least it was a distraction so he could decide what to do next. @alleyspat.
