Given the climate of hatred towards super powered people, regardless of how much those powered had helped against the Dominators, 514A knew he had to leave soon. The morning he could move his legs and arms he decided would be the day he made his escape.
It didn’t matter that the doctor treating him had snapped to the three nurses around him that it wasn’t to leave their group how fast the boy had healed, no one else was to know for his safety, 514A didn’t trust them.
And he certainly didn’t trust them when it came to Donovan and Howard.
Body still trembling as it fought the toxin, 514A rested against the window and froze when he saw familiar faces being ushered in on stretchers, far below on the ground. Something like fear had seized him and the implications of the Indian Hill experiments being in the hands of anyone had 514A moving before his body was ready to. He grabbed his drip stand and pushed through the doors of his room, following his nose to the rich, horrible scent of Donovan and Howard’s blood. There was a hint of Jubilation too, but as cruel as it sounded, 514A was not concerned with her. His brothers came first.
He found Howard first, but doctors were working on him, so 514A backed off. For a distressing amount of time he was left to simply watch as the Humans scuffled around his brothers, shouting medical jargon and plunging in more needles than 514A could cope to watch. Seeing them in that state launched him back to the pit of Hell known as Indian Hill, when the tubes were to test their toys rather than save lives.
When 514A’s panic attack in the hospital stairwell faded, he sighed. How strange it was... The Court would be disappointed that their agent had post traumatic stress disorder.
Instead of dwelling on his weakness, 514A hauled himself back up, stumbling and slamming into the wall as he lost his balance, and followed whichever scent was strongest from where he was. Which was Donovan’s.
For a moment 514A simply stood in the doorway, eyes wide, taking in the sight and feeling an immensely positive emotion knowing that they hadn’t taken Donovan away.
Yet.
“Donovan?”
