“Only three? I could give you much more then that, if you wanted. But alas, 3 is what you asked for. I’ll try and pick out some good ones:
1. You are a rarity, Isabella. Someone I can actually hold a proper conversation with. You are intelligent, and have quite the memory when it comes to books. As you know, I am also a bookworm. Though to be fair; you are a much bigger one. Books have always been a very pleasant escape from reality and in that sense, you are like a book to me.
2. Your voice. You like to use this one against me. I think you know I love it when you speak softly to me. Or speak to me at all really. I know I talk a lot, but I also love to listen to you, as well. You’re the only one I could listen to for hours and not get a word of my own in there to interrupt you. I like it when you read to me, or talk nonsense to me.
3. As I said before, you are a rarity. A gem. Sometimes I feel as though you are the only person in the whole world who can stand me. Just as I listen to you, you listen to me as well. You’re always so eager to hear my thoughts on things. Like I fascinate you. You’re the only person I can think of who always allows me to explain myself. You even stand up for me. 514A replayed the song again, listening intently to the individual notes and words. Now he knew these sounds were different from other background noises he had found himself becoming obsessive over them: finding out which sounds were music and which weren’t. Sitting alone in the condo with the iPod gifted to him by his fleeting companion.
After the tenth listen 514A tilted his head and sang the first line.
Then skipped back, played it again, sung it again. Repeat. Repeat.
Repeat
As he emulated the melody with headphones in his ears and volume on full, the clone was found in a rare moment of vulnerability and didn’t notice a familiar woman coming up behind him.
“I’m going to swing from the chandelier, from the chandelier-” 514A rung out, the acoustics of the modern condo filling the room. Then, suddenly he flicked back to his deadpan tone, going from angelic song to grinding bluntness in seconds. “What an irrational activity. Why would one want to swing from an ornamental lamp shade?”
He moved to play it again, but the sound of laughing caught his attention and he spun around; pulling out the earphones as he went.
