They were indeed worried. A black, thick substance was pressed against the edge where the glass wall met the floor, a good seven feet long. Tendrils sprouted sporadically. They tapped against the glass, some spread into thinner cords when hitting the wall. Some only arched and dove right back into the black mess. The movements were stressed, but the mass seemed to center in line with where Jacob was standing.
