Remember a few years ago when Weezer did their nostalgia tour?

And they only played Pinkerton and The Blue Album? I heard it was pretty amazing. Now… what would it take to get No Doubt to do the same thing, playing only (and only!) Tragic Kingdom? See? Doesn’t that sound like a great idea? Not much beat that album in the mid 90s except for maybe Ace Of Base’s The Sign. Maybe. A show like that is something I’d pay good money for. Or "…something for which I’d pay good money." Stupid internal grammar nazi.

Weezer plays "Across the Sea," live in Japan

In eight hours or so, I'm getting on a train and going to see Weezer play all of Pinkerton as part of their "Memories/Blinkerton" tour at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago.

It's basically the best birthday present ever.

Weezer last night was so good. SO good. Better than I thought it would be.

It was Blue Album night. They started out with "best of" songs starting from current and counting backwards by year/album. They played one song off every album they've put out. Hurley, the real Hurley, came out and sang Memories with them.

After the best of/singles they played, there was an intermission where they played a slideshow of old photos and tour posters for the band.

When they came back on stage, they played the blue album in its entirety, from beginning to end. It was awesome.

No encore, also, no El Scorcho. I guess I'd have to pay for tonight if I want to hear that song live. :(
