@it-is-bugs After all the S2 eps were plotted, the script team and George jumped into Stu Page’s mini-van / Mystery Machine, and took a day trip to the Rat to look at a bunch of hero locations (the Colonists, Art Gallery, Flying Club, Botanical Gardens, cinema, etc). The goal was to help the writers work to what they had, rather than writing in elements that might turn out to be unachievable. Marcia Gardener felt the painting there was perfect for what she wanted. So that’s what we used ��

Thanks for the insight, @blinkingcursor15.  I appreciate that approach over the usual sort of plot 1, 2, 3 that can happen on TV shows. Now having been to Ballarat, I can really see that the show captures the spirit of the place and time.

... would cut any reference to Charlie whatsoever. We can’t force the actor to stick around (option deals are v. Complicated), and honestly nor would we want to. So on short notice we needed an in-character end point for Charlie’s character that was some kind of happy ending, that tied into his hopes for the future away from Ballarat and B & J. Make sense? (3)

Yeah I mean I knew you had to write him out somehow. I’m glad that he got to go out on happy terms instead of being murdered to death or something lol.

also this shows probably how much I know about police stuff, which is uhhhh nothing so im glad everyone else is on the ball. thanks for answering my question :-)

Sorry it's not included @it-is-bugs �� In truth the telemovie was only 100% finished and delivered to the network about 4 days before we went to air!

When it was announced that the telemovie was going to air immediately after S5 ended, I couldn’t believe it.  But it was a fine production without any obvious corners cut.  Two weddings full of guests, new costumes needed for regulars and guests alike, tons of locations, night shoots, a car chase!  I’m assuming the everyone went home and slept for a thousand hours.  :D  For that, I’m willing to pay for global shipping again to get the movie later.

Nothing like being pre-emptively disappointed based on the network delaying us for *reasons*, and story assumptions you're making that are a bit off the mark... Have a little faith :) Have we ever let you down before (don't answer that)?

I’ll try and keep my spirits up :-) just keep those shots of charlie and matthew out of uniform coming and i wont have much cause to complain lol
