May 2012 Blissmo Box haul
May 2012 Blissmobox haul.
If you've never heard of Blissmobox, here's a brief description:
Each month, expect exceptional organic & eco-friendly products from a mix of established as well as up-and-coming brands. We pack each box with between $19-$40 or more of value — and you'll get to discover premium-quality products safer for you & better for your planet.
For May, I chose the Spring Into Beauty theme, and here's what I came away with:
Full size Neutrogena Naturals Multi-Vitamin Nourishing Night Cream - a retail value of $11.99. I've never used a night cream before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. After washing off my makeup and using my scrub, I put this cream on right before bed. The scent was light and refreshing, without overpowering me, and/or leaving any scent on my pillows. It delivered a nice amount of moisture and my skin felt quite nice in the morning. Because it's nearly summer time, it's hard for me to say if this is delivering a major amount of moisture, but I'm definitely going to use it, at least a few times a week for now, and maybe every night in winter.
Pangea Organics Egyptial Calendula & Blood Orange Facial Cleanser - Full size retail value is $28.00
This cleanser is formulated for normal to dry skin, which works great for me. I tend to have dry-ish skin on my forehead, and normal elsewhere. This cleanser was gentle, and smelled incredible. I normally use St. Ives Apricot Scrub religiously, so this was a big change from that. It was gentle, refreshing, and left my face feeling tingly clean. At $28.00 for the full size, it seems a bit expensive, but I'd definitely spend it for this cleanser. I'm smitten.
Lauren Brooke Cosmetiques Sweet Chai Lip Scrub - Retail value of $4.50. Lip scrubs are one of my favourite indulenges - and this one is awesome. It's completely natural, so you don't have to wonder what you're putting on your mouth, and it smells great. It just took a tiny bit of it on my pinky finger to scrub my lips soft and smooth. This is a definite keeper for me, and it's worth every penny of the $4.50 retail price.
GoTowel bamboo fiber pop-up towel - $14.95 for a pack of 10 towels. Shamefully, I'm a bit obsessed with the pop-up towels from the dollar store, to this just made me happy. Naturally anti-bacterial, these are great for any and everything. I keep mine in my purse to clean up any spills I may have made through the day (and that's normally a few). These can be washed in a lingerie back on gentle, or just rinsed with hot water & air-dried, making them a really great, sustainable alternative to wasteful paper towels and napkins.
Huile Moderne 004 Hydrating Oil - Full size bottle retails for $56.00. This is an alternative to lotion for me. It feels a bit slick at first - sort of like a spray suntan oil, but it absorbs quickly. I've been using it on my cuticles, before pushing them back, and the dry spots on my heels. The smell is different at first, but not overpowering. It's a nice alternative to heavy lotions, and really helps relieve any dried skin areas.
This particular Blissmobox was $19 + $3 shipping. Each month, you can choose a food box, a cleaning box, or a beauty box. What I love about this is that you can change it up each month, and not get bored with the types of items you're getting. I really love that they are environmentally friendly, and always curating items that are cleaner, better, and healthier for you and the earth. I'll definitely be renewing for June.
