The aftermath p1
[No warnings necessary]
“Hey- Uh, everyone? Everyone, please-” Blitz sighs. The crowd of demons and other hospital goers still shifts and mutters uneasily, focusing on each other, not him. “Guys, please, listen-”
“Oi, fuckers,” Lunari’s shout effectively silences the crowd, “Sit the fuck down and listen or I will personally make each and every one of you supremely uncomfortable.” She turns and nods at Blitz, giving him the go ahead to talk.
“Um... Uh, right, anyway,” Blitz clears his throat, “Since both the leader and second in command of the hospital have kind of... Gone mia, we need to decide on a temporary leader until they come back.”
“Where have they gone?” One demon asks, others following their lead and voicing their own concerns.
“Is Hunter abandoning us?”
“What will we do without his protection?”
As the crowd becomes more frantic, Blitz shrinks a little. He doesn’t have answers to their questions, he doesn’t even really understand what’s going on. Neither Hunter nor Zar had been seen for several days, and things were falling to shambles.
He jumps at the hand on his shoulder, turning to see Prince standing next to him.
“Be calm, firestarter. I will take over this meeting,” He says, smiling at Blitz.
Blitz nods and shuffles off to the side, where Lunari throws an arm around him and says, “Nice try, buddy. Guess you’re not made for the stage, though.” He nods mutely, turning to listen to Prince.
“...Things will not be changing as of right now,” The forest god is saying, “I know you are afraid, and I will help calm those fears. For now, if you have a problem, please come to me.”
“But where is Hunter?” A bigger demon shoves her way to the front, “You can’t expect us to just listen to you telling us things are ok. Things aren’t ok! Our leader, our protector, is gone. We deserve to know why and where he is.”
Prince nods, “That is a fair point, you do deserve to know. However,” His words are drowned out by demons snarling, and he waits a moment before continuing on, “However. For his safety I cannot tell you where he is. I have never lead any of you astray, I have never lied to any of you. So please, trust me when I say I wish I could tell you. His well being comes first.”
“But why is he unsafe?” The demon asks, “If it was vampires, we’d know. He taught us how to detect them, and I’ve not noticed any signs of them. So why is his safety threatened, forest god? You’ve never lied to us before, don’t start now.”
“I won’t lie,” Prince says, “But I also won’t tell you. That is for him to tell when he’s ready. If he is ever ready, I should say. Have patience. Your protector has not abandoned you, he is, instead, unable to help you.”
Prince moves as if to leave, hesitates. Turns back to the crowd. “And also. If any of you see Zar,” His expression is cold fury, and most of the crowd shrinks back from him as he snarls, “Send it to me.”
