John Mayer's Fender Strat, 'The Black One'
It is one of the most iconic electric guitars in modern blues-rock history—a heavily distressed black Fender Stratocaster that became the sonic backbone of Mayer's breakthrough 2006 album Continuum.
Built in late 2004 by Fender Custom Shop Master Builder John Cruz, it's not just a signature model but a deeply personal instrument that Mayer designed as his "main guitar," inspired by childhood sketches he'd doodle for Fender catalogs. Mayer called it a "labor of love".
